Is it me or did the Democrats set up the premise that they will negotiate on whether or not the USA will pay its bills instead of just doing it? Doesn't the 14th Amendment say that there is no question as to whether or not the USA will pays it's bills?

I don't understand why the Dems are celebrating. I don't understand why the news media is calling this a victory for the country and that Biden is some kind of hero for setting up the precedent of negotiating whether or not the country will go into default. If the Dems had any courage Biden would simply tell the Fed to borrow what is needed and if the Republicans wanted to fight all the way to the Supreme Court, go ahead. Let them make the argument that the country shouldn't pay its bills unless the Republicans get their way.
