Nothing shows the hypocrisy of religion like sports. Michigan's football coach just thanked god and their lord and savior JC for getting them to the number one spot in the country. First of all who did it God or Jesus Christ? Which one do they pray to and who has more power? Do god and JC get together and decide what happens? What if they disagree? Who has the most pull?
When Michigan loses to Alabama will that be god's plan? Doesn't JC have a plan?
Will they thank them then for letting them or making them lose?
All four teams in the college football playoffs will be praying to the same god and JC before the game and three of them will get fucked eventually. Proving that 75% of the time or at a minimum 50% of the time praying to those imaginary beings DOESN'T WORK!!!
As I've said in the past, just one time, when a baseball player strikes out I want to see him point to the sky as he does when he hits a homerun.
The correlation between religion and sport goes deeper. Both are mostly practised on Sunday. They both often rely on blind and unreasonable faith. And which one you adhere to is mostly determined by geography and tribal/family tradition.
Sometimes the link can be even closer, as in Northern Ireland or Glasgow where teams are either Catholic or protestant. The two Glasgow teams are Celtic - Catholic and Rangers - protestant. A famous Celtic manager Jock Stien was asked "If you had two great forwards ready to be signed, one Catholic and the other protestant but you could only sign one, which one would you sign?"
Without hesitation, Jock answered "The protestant one, coz Rangers would never sign up the Catholic"
So many teams, so many choices, what's a god to do??
well he does have a partner JC, they probably scope out the days schedule and divide up the games Althought no one ever says it's christ's plan, so maybe he's just an advisor? Maybe he's responsible for all the hunger in the world because no one wants to admit that it's god's plan
Well, that is if there are 4 teams in the play-offs. In baseball, with the three leagues and the wild card, there is only a 1/8 chance of God's plan including your win.
In Major League Baseball (MLB), the wild card teams are the three teams in each of the two leagues (American and National) that have qualified for the postseason despite failing to win their division.
If god is a coin toss then the probabilities are not 1/8 for each team because the two league winners don't play until the quarter final round.
Ummm there ARE 4 teams in the college football playoffs
I might be wrong but.....didn't Michigan lose to Alabama yesterday???? Jeebus & big sky daddy must be otherwise occupied....
Ummm Michigan beat Iowa yesterday and Alabama beat Georgia to get to play (probably beat) Michigan in the semi finals Jan 1
Being great at a sport does not equate with being great at thinking.
Often true, there are dumb jocks and smart jocks. The smart ones become docs, lawyers, and successful businessmen or financial folks, because their smarts and competitive natures, make them great at those professions.
Of course, god and JC have nothing better to do than fix football games. Starving children and war are 2nd on their list. Football is more important! SMH!!!!
That is fucking classic! Just need to amend it to say that he is extremely busy with both pro and college sports..
Which god made them cheat during the season by sending one of their staff member to videotape their opponents practice, in order to learn their game signals as a way to prepare to play them.
I guess when the NCAA gods decide that we'll know the answer
Supposedly the father, the son, and the holy ghost are one. Of course it's all just mumbo jumbo. As for he-them-it having a plan, that's more circular bullshit Christians shovel out whenever you ask them about injustices like the suffering of innocents. "God has a plan, but He does not reveal it," they say. What a convenient, obscure, and evasive load of crap.
Pandering to the majority audience. Predictable as a winning coaches post game interview. I would like to see him point to the sky for a strikeout but he would become an instant pariah with a huge swath of the audience. It would take a real rebel to go against the grain in that fashion.
or it would point out the obvious and maybe get the huge swath to think about it for a change
Gee, and I thought it was because of what the players on the field did. I guess maybe now, the Vegas oddsmakers, need to have a daily report on how God or JC is doing that day, as far as being out of the lineup with a groin pull, or some other issue, lol?
fine idea!
