I recommend against that perspective if you want to affect change. It is important to understand where people are coming from if you want to change their minds.
When does the point come when the victim realises it's all insanity and a lie? How bad does it have to get for them to have the epiphany they need to escape?

This is not a realization that everyone is capable of making. It is important to not let our disgust and indignation prevent us from feeling the compassion necessary to actually help the person.

To me, this sounds like an encouragement to willing submission, not only in a religious standpoint but in life as well. Encouragement to basically be a walking mat to others because they're in position of authority or more "alpha". All in all, I think there are strong and weak people out there, but brainwashing of this magnitude is a terrible way to waste a person's potential. In my opinion, of course.

Everyone comes to their own truth. Until a person is ready they will not change their thinking. In an abusive situation I can see stepping in and removing the person being abused and hopefully the sbuser is charge but they go BACK.
Religion is fucked up, it is sad. Sure glad to find so many normal people out there - this site is great!!

When I read the meme, the misogyny and victim-blaming just floored me. It’s all abusive. Awful from their supposed ‘god of love and mercy’. ??
I see a lot of self congratulatory posts about how stupid the situation is. Fine. It's stupid. But I have to ask if calling it stupid is the mind set we need to help someone in this situation.

I don’t think it stupid: more like brainwashed, manipulative, and trauma-bonding, which are all tactics/results of abuse. The need some people have to create a sense of order/safety saddens me. So does the embracing of a delusion. I’ve survived abuse myself, struggled to understand it. My conclusion is that some folks are toxic, so recognize the red flags asap then GET OUT.
I try to help anyone in this situation, with abuse. Support, information, education, resources. Sadly, again: many are not ready or unable to accept help. All I can do is offer it.
Do you have ideas about how to bring about change? Tried anything that worked? I’m interested to hear.
@CarolinaGirl60 I don't have first hand knowledge of abuse. I've helped people get through it before. All I know to do is triage the people. Find the ones you can help, and don't let the other ones distract your attention. Nobody can save the world, I'm sad to say.
