I can pretty see that every member has a very content feeling on their pictures. They seem to have lifted that burden from their past and are now living the live they describe, feel and want to pass on. We all have our own Church and mine is the Woods where I go every day and nature never lets me down without showing me something new ever trip. I wish that everyone was able to make the leap and put that beautiful pose which most share so beautifully.

The woods used to be my thing but these dayz I'm mostly inside and I sleep a lot. Well, sort of. I wake up about every 2 hours so that sleep interruption is why I sleep a lot.

Give me 11 or 12 hours, and I can get 8 hours' sleep. πŸ˜‚

Let's hope that the woods survive anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming. If we keep on with business as usual, we WILL activate feedbacks in the the natural climate system that can cause woods-killing temperatures. It has happened before. One such mass extinction killed off 95% of the species then living on Earth. 🌎 πŸ”₯ 😡

An 'oldy-but-goody'. 😁

@Captnfeelgood Yeah, seen that one before. It's a clever little meme, but it has only a slender connection to reality.

What will you bet that I cannot supply recent historical graphs for atmospheric CO2 concentration, hurricanes, fires, and floods, heat waves, glacial melt, forest die-offs, sea level rise, and average global temperature, each with the same sharp upward trend over the last few decades?

@Flyingsaucesir Why just a few decades? Why not a few hundred million years?

@Captnfeelgood None of it happened because we the people adjusted our behavior. Nothing remains the same without becoming stagnant. So one can only "conserve" momentarily. Also as a learned man, your sources are not credited. They are merely memes. I see you survived the hurricane that devastated
N C.

@Captnfeelgood Were there humans living 600 million years ago? No. In fact, at that time, only the most basic animal species (worms) were just beginning to evolve. Land animals would not evolve for another 225 million years.

Our own species has only been around for 200,000 (two hundred thousand) years. So, while interesting on an academic level, what the atmospheric CO2 concentration was 600 million years ago has no practical value in assessing what is desirable or necessary for our survival (and that of the many species we depend on) today.

We have plenty of data in the time frame that is meaningful, i.e. the last million years or so. And that data shows very clearly that we modern humans have driven up CO2 levels way beyond anything ever experienced by even our earliest human ancestors. See the graph below.

Note that this graph is a little out of date (2918). Since then, the CO2 concentration has continued to climb. It's now closer to 427 ppm.

@Mooolah I think his graph going back 600 million years depicts real data, but it's irrelevant to the discussion of current climate change and the conditions necessary for our survival, since our earliest hominid ancestors only evolved in over the last 8 or 10 million years, and our own species is only two hundred thousand years old.

There's something to that old adage about not judging a book by it's cover but I hope your wish comes true for all of us, you included. I like the woods, too, as long as the weather is warm and the company is laid back.

Right, I’ve been seriously depressed myself. Maybe something to do with watching our democracy being destroyed from within…..πŸ‘€

@Aaron70 Yeah, that'll do it alright. We're being introduced to a whole new level of futility ... and despondency.

@Lauren Geesh, take it easy on those four syllable words already, I haven’t had my coffee yetβ€¦β€¦πŸ‘€

Yeah, I like the woods too.
