At what age did you move out?
I only moved out of my parent’s place this past December, at age 21. I always feel like I should have done so earlier, but I wasn’t able to afford it.

I was 17. I planned my escape for years.

My daughter and I live together. She's in her 20's. For us, it works and makes sense. Every family situation is different.

Kicked out at 14. Definitely didn't have a choice in the matter.

I was kicked out of my mother's house at 16.
Spent a year with my grandparents. Wanted to go home, but she put me in
foster care instead.
I was on my own at 18.

I ran away at 15 and never went back. I lived under a bridge for about a year then in a barn for about a year and a half until I was old enough to enlist in the Army.

I originally left home before I was 17 but I moved in with my grandmother so that probably didn't count. I left there in my earlier 20s.

I had to move back home in an emergency in my late 20s. There is no shame in it.

Left at 17 and went to College in West Va. Upon Graduation and commencement exercises my family wanted to know if I was coming back with them, home in Bridgeport Conn. I said not likely as I had to be in Newport Kentucky the next morning for induction into the USN. I never went home again. Thankyou 🙂

Technically speaking , I didn't - they moved away .

After school graduation, I started at the University of Michigan in September. Lived in Ann Arbor. At age 21, after completing a bachelor degree, I moved to Washington State to climb mountains and stayed.

Soon the Midwest was too flat for me. Visiting my parents in Michigan, I scanned the horizon for my beloved mountains.

I moved out at 20 and never returned

At age 18 I went off to college, returning only for summermonthgs. At age 22, I left permanently.

I lived with them on and off some in college and then grad school. I left for good and moved across the country right after I turned 23. Everyone has their own schedule.

I stuck around as log as I could - I knew a a good thing when I had it Never felt the need to leave and claim my independence. By the time I hit 17 or 18 I was free to come and go as I pleased. So staying at home was great I'd get my washing done, get fed when I'm around etc... and of course a hell of a lot cheaper - I did pay my way but it was still very inexpensive. I'd go "live" at girl friends houses or apartments from time to time but never moving out of home until I got married and by them I was in my late 20's. The advantage of doing that was that I was able to save a lot of money and basically take out a mortgage right away. Had a decent car that was paid off and no tuition debt

Moved out at age 19.

Left the county..but came home to Ireland

There's no place like home.

Eighteen. I went off to college and remember thinking to myself as my family and I pulled out of the driveway to drop me off at school for the first time that from now on I would be returning to the house I grew up in as a guest.

I was 20.

I stayed at home to help my folks pay bills, etc,...and save for a late college start, which ended up being a waste of $, as I dropped out Sophomore year, LOL...😉

Fifteen years old - My mother was bi polar mainly manic and my father depressed both were seriously damaged and abusive in different ways. I never looked back - it was hard to accept that other people were O.K. I was always reserved just in case but I was living a nice life for myself having fun at last and not being so frightened- It took me ages to realise that I really had escaped.

18 - college could not wait to leave. I loved my father. My step mom made my life hell.

Went to college at 17 and never moved back in after that! I have had a job (outside of working for family) since I was 15. For the life of me, I can't understand people who live with their parents or parents who won't let their kids go.

At 18, to college, but I was back in the summers, then breifly back when I graduated.

I moved back again for about 6 months after several failed life changes. so I was 27 when I was last living with them, before I moved in with my now husband.

I moved out when I was 21, and moved back home after my accident at 24 and have been unable to move back out since due to my disability and my medical bills. I miss living on my own

My family and I coexist in helping eachother out though. I pay rent and buy some of the groceries and cook and babysit, they open jars and reach things for me and help me with money when I struggle
