Nostalgic music....the local classic rock station played Anthrax I’m the Man this morning. So of course I had to listen the Attack of the Killer B’s when I got to work. Followed that with Bestie Boys License to Ill and currently have Alice Cooper Trash.

I think Motley Crue Dr. Feelgood and Aerosmith Pump will be next.

What bands/albums remind you of high school?

A little bit older my faves inHigh School: Carole King/Tapestry, Cat Stevens/Tea For Tillerman, JamesTaylor/Sweet Baby James, The Who/Who's Next and Motown.

I'm in the UK so in my case it was a secondary modern for boys but to answer your question, what reminds me of school: Slade, T.Rex, Roxy Music, Sweet, Focus, David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper (Billion Dollar Babies in my case) and others 🙂

Boston, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, Marshall Tucker Band, Alice Cooper, The Who

My Jr. High and High School were 90s grunge and 80s new wave. I was listening to Nine Inch Nails, The Cranberries, Hole, Alanis Morrisette, Pearl Jam, Tool. But also The Cure, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Erasure, Blonde. Good times.

Stone Temple Pilots “Core”, Marilyn Manson “Antichrist Superstar”, Tool “Opiate”, Soul Asylum “Grave Dancers Union”

Faith No More: The Real Thing; Dirty Rotten Imbeciles: The Pit; Black Sabbath: Any of their albums.

Oh good call on Faith No More! I decided I needed a double dose of Aerosmith so I'm on Permanent Vacation now. I'm not saying I swoon over Steven Tyler but we do have the same birthday...

@Marcie1974
Excellent album! Right up there with Toys in the Attic and Rush's 2112

@Holysocks yes to Toys but I'm not a Rush fan....can't stand his voice. Don't hate me!

@Marcie1974
It's ok. Everyone is allowed their preference. 🙂

@Holysocks I'm totally jamming out to FNM Epic right now! Forgot how great this album is so thank you!

@Marcie1974
They were one of a kind, and one of my favorites!

@Marcie1974
Did you ever hear their album 'Angel Dust'?

@Holysocks pretty sure Epic is the only one I've listened to. Loved when they were on SNL in '90 and Mike climbed up onto that big fan.

@Marcie1974
Check out their song Ricochet on David Letterman. He doesn't climb anything, but it's a good performance.

On the way to my favorite cafe this morning I got to hear Twisted Sister, I Want To Rock!!! Made my day🙂🙂

I always loved We're Not Going to Take It. Do you ever listen to Dee Schneider's radio show? I like it.

@Marcie1974 I bought a new truck last year and it came with 3 months of free Sirius XM radio. I got addicted to the Ozzy's Boneyard Channel. I didn't subscribe once the 3 months were over. Does Dee have a talk show?

@farmboy2017 yes, it's aptly named House of Hair. Our local classic rock station plays it Saturday nights. I think it's 4 hours?

@Marcie1974 Maybe he'll play some Cinderella!! Now, that was some serious hair!

@farmboy2017 my BFF and I used to say we were bitching up our hair when we'd get ready to go out. I believe the hairspray we used was called Stiff Stuff. Let me see if I can find a picture to share...

@farmboy2017 here we go....Marcie circa 1992. Look how skinny I was!

@Marcie1974 Nice! I used to have a Billy Ray Cyrus mullet in the 80s. How sad was that?

@Marcie1974 Alright! Love the BIG hair!

Don't understand their music.

That is a valid opinion.

I've been listening to the same radio station for (almost) as long as I've been alive.
They've changed their tag line - but they've always played good dependable Rock.
(now considered Classic Rock).
My high school years were spent trying not to listen to the (crap) music of the day, but to hold out until I got home to listen to some Good Stuff!!!
Lots have been mentioned already, but I'll add The Doobie Brothers, Zappa, The Who, The Stones, The Doors, Zeppelin, Three Dog Night, 10CC ...
There are others, but I'll leave it there.

2

Guns N Roses and Metallica. Two bands that shaped my teen yrs

2

Anthrax, for one. Lots of stuff posted in the Metal and Punk group, too.

Anything Queen or ELO will always be high school songs. Disco reminds me I was born at an unfortunate time.

1

AC/DC Back in Black, Elvis Costello My Aim Is True, Joe Jackson Look Sharp, The Specials, Madness One Step Beyond.

Lose the first one and we can hang out together.

@phil21 agreed, I'm not an AC/DC fan

@Marcie1974 Remember we're talking high school 😉 @phil21

@kmdskit3 point taken lol

Skid Row, Anthrax, Megadeth, Kool Moe Dee, Dj Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Lost Boys Soundtrack, Blue Oyster Cult, Salty Dog, Alice Cooper, Don Henley, Warren Zevon... I had a wide array of musical styles I was interested in... LOL

Hmmmmm.... R.E.M. was my favorite band in school, but I was also big on Public Image, Ltd., Beastie Boys, Live, Faith No More, Nirvana, Guns n' Roses, Big Audio Dynamite, and The Smiths. Oh and definitely the infamous Wally Pleasant.

Guns & Roses- Appetite for Destruction
Nirvana- Never mind.

I'll go back and listen to some of the old stuff once in awhile. However, I prefer to navigate Tidal or Pandora to discover new stuff I haven't heard before.

When I do get in the mood for a bit of nostalgia, I'll go back to what I was listening to in college. Not high school. The Replacements, The Damned, The Church, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnyman, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Cure, Love And Rockets, The Pixies, The Dead Boys, Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Motorhead, King Diamond, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Accept....

Kiss, AC/DC, Great White, Motley Crue, Guns and Roses - etc. Hair metal kid.

When I was in high school. The Who came out with Tommy, Jethro Tull came out with Aqualung, Chicago came out with Chicago - the album with 25 or 6 to 4, Black Sabbath came out with Paranoid, McCartney came out with Ram, and Clapton came out with Layla and other Love Songs. There's more, but those come immediately to mind. ELP came out with Lucky Man (forget the album, but I think it was just ELP) as well as Tarkus, Rod Stewart came out with Maggie May. Cream, Blind Faith, Steely Dan, geeze, I need to go play some vinyl now.

Captain Beyond's self titled debut.
More so the music from 68 to about 72 - it was a wild time in my life and always enjoy listening to it. Frank Zappa, captain beefheart, Alice cooper, Iggy pop, James Brown, Joni mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, etc.
I listen to a lot of current and older stuff, but rarely radio.
Like big band/swing too.
