No vote for obvious ridiculous reason. Now if you can send me with enough ammo, an assault boat and a Seal Team to the caribbean during Columbus first voyage. He would had only "discovered" his Death. And Spanish Kings would end up Broke. All 3 caravelas would had been scuttled! Crews sacrificed.
Neither. Humanity's track record sucks; doesn't look good for the future.
I agree we are naturally greedy and violent and self-serving which makes us a virus.
@LeighShelton Yep. I couldn't agree more. I would like to have more faith in us but .........
@patchoullijulie well its more than possible but just not going to happen. we are way past saving ourselves. I'm glad I never had children.
I know what the past is. And I'd think I'd have a hard time dealing without some base amenities we now take for granted today. OTOH, I'd be curious to see what the future has in store on many levels, despite the threat that the environment might be all screwed up by then, or the US might by then be a totalitarian state.
They could have a cure for everything. Technology out of this world. It could be better then a bidet in every bathroom....lol.
100 years in the past. Mmmm The end of WW1 Spanish Flu was killing more people than the war and Rock N Roll was a dream no Gibson Les Pual's or Marshall Satcks Pass. !00 years in the future, well they'll still be playing the Beatles and The Stones and America might have finally grown up, but I doubt it. Trouble is I'm not sure there'll be an us in 100 years time. God will have sent The Four Horsemen of the Apocalpse pr something to smite all us sinners. LOL
Wonderful analysis. I was thinking the same thing. Not sure which would be better. I think I'll just live in the present.
The future is a mystery, and the past is not. I'd probably do a lot of betting, since I'd know the outcome already. With the money I'd be able to acquire over time, I could avoid falling victim to the Great Depression and (assuming I'd go back the same age I am now) not be a primary candidate as a soldier. I'd buy a bunch of land in some beautiful part of Oregon and have buildings, festivals and parks named after me.
The future would be a nightmare because I'd be considerably out of touch with technology and societal norms, methods of communication, laws, etc. I already feel a step behind, I can't imagine the degree of lost and clueless I'd be 100 years from now.
I'm the son of a United States Nuclear Engineer. I've grown up surrounded by technology my whole life. Read more books than most people have ever seen. In my opinion, the past and the future would both be exciting to see. I have a love affair with WW2 Battleships. I also dream of seeing the stars and other worlds one day. A conundrum at it's finest. Good times. ?
