Does it annoy you when Christians say,” America is a Christian nation?”

I seen a stupid post by a Christ infected imbecile about how America is a Christian nation and how Muslims need to stop claiming Allah. Wtf! Allah means god! Just in a different language. Ugh, these damned Christians! Also hearing this end times crap is starting to sound like a broken record. One actually got upset cause the whole sharia law deal. They fail to understand that Christianity has a notorious history on killing millions of Native Americans as immigrants when they arrived to this country and they also have a history of inslaving people of color and forcing their religion down their slaves’ throat. Went as far to condone slavery since the Bible calls for slavery. Don’t even get me started on all the witch hunt trials and the many early scientist who lost their lives from the damn imbeciles. Sorry for my rant, by the way.

I've said it before..... this country (and the whole world for that matter) will be secular. Religion in any way, shape or form will be completely and utterly erased, removed and forgotten FOREVER. No, it won't happen soon enough but, rest assure that it will.

yes

Yes Christians are encouraged to treat others the way they would like to be treated.

The "America first!"battlecry of the ruling Christian GOP right under Herr Trump is not what I would expect from a "Christian Nation under God"

Thus Far the Trump administration has betrayed it's allies by thwarting the Paris Accord..Ruined the NATO pact..further betrayed it's allies with an aggressive trade war..betrayed all it's own intelligence services by siding with America's enemy Putin. Betrayed and insulted it's neighbours...I could go on all day..but you get the picture..

Christian it is not...

Your rant is well founded and yes, when Christians assert America is a Christian nation, I am annoyed and will engage with them. Their typical response is "Well, we say it in the Pledge of Allegiance says Under god" so I tell them that was added in 1954 Then they argue it's on our money Then I tell them paper currency added that in 1957. etc etc. . .

Tell a lie often enough and long enough by authority figures and the lie will become de facto truth.

I see you have a strong opinion. What do you really think? (I am messing with you)(I expect it back) The Constitution says there is a separation between church and state. I think there is a gap between dog and pmurt, it just is not seen by those who consider themselves Christian. I was raised Catholic, studied the philosophy of religion, I think I understand christianity. What we now have in this country is not christianity, they may have read the bible, but they have not understood what it says and they have given up on its teachings. So any one who states this country is Christian is simply incorrect, sorry I have not paid enough attention to know what it should be called. I am reminded of Nietzsche when in the late 1800's said, "God is dead, the people have killed him." At least that is what I remember.

The Constitution does NOT say there is a "separation between church and state." It is implied and accepted as such by the wording of the 1st amendment, otherwise known as the "establishment clause" and reinforced by Jefferson's letter to the Virginia Assembly which does say it.

@jlynn37 That does not change the fact that we are not a Christian nation in the same sense the founding fathers meant.

@dalefvictor I agree with all that you say but your comment about what the Constitution says. The words "separation of church and state" is no where to found in the Constitution. You may consider it nit picking but it is what it is.

@jlynn37 You got me, guess I am getting senile. I looked it up and I thought the bill of rights a was the first part of the constitution, I knew this was not right but did not put it together. Thanks for the correction, greatly appreciated. If I knew you better I would call you a smart ass, not for correcting me but for being correct and letting me know. Thanks.

Legality is a bitch and will bite you in the ass every time your assumptions get the best of you. Acting as a christian is not what is in question because a christian used to own slaves. Maybe that is the type of christian you want to see back... maybe not maybe you are one of the good ones that talk the brotherhood shit over everything else and still expect jesus to show up hand in hand with his father... and maybe not. I don't remember ever reading that the president of US said... we just dropped a nuclear bomb on those backstabbing japs and killed a whole bunch on them in 2 cities saving a bunch of american soldiers lives and as of today... we are no longer a christian nation because there is no nukes in the bible.

@RodPhilD I mentioned that in my response and the letter from Jefferson is NOT the constitution.

No... because it is a Christian Nation. Get over it, is Your Reality. One day in the future will no longer be Christian or White. But the future is to be determined. In the meanwhile you were born in christian land and you pay taxes to a christian government using christian money.

It is a nation populated by a majority of citizens who claim to be Christians. It is a nation governed by a secular Constitution and who's governing bodies are, by law. secular (in theory of course.)

@jlynn37 Christian, christian, xtian... let me check the paper money printed by the government in my wallet... yep word god is in there. Every complaint she said were sins commited by this Nation Under God... yep Christian Nation... you liked or not.... go Overseas and ask anyone of any country if ameriKKKa is a christian nation. We both know the response. Not all Germans were Nazis, not all Cubans are Communists. Not all Americans will be Christians. But this Nation is Christian until is christian no more.

@GipsyOfNewSpain Your opinion is noted as is mine.

@GipsyOfNewSpain the Christian god is Yahweh, Jehovah, Jesus. The Muslim god is Allah. The Hindu god is Vishnu, Krishna, many others. The Capitalist god is Money. Take your pick as to what "In God We Trust", "One Nation Under God" means.

@jlynn37 I have no beef with any of your gods... they don't bother me. I am not here to change the world. I am just a tourist. I will leave when my gig is up. I am leaving the same way I came in... without one and not annoyed because there was one or there was many.

@GipsyOfNewSpain They are not MY gods. I am A-theist. Those mentioned are ALL gods plus thousands more.

@jlynn37 Never been annoyed because this land I was born on is called Christian. Never found many British pissed off because they have a queen. I found more Spaniards.... but that is that, they never gotten along so that's a story for another day with possible relevance to this christianity dealio. I am just Not Annoyed by Christianity.

Yes they need to read the founding fathers remarks regarding the Constitution as they were running from the old world and the influence that religion had in politics there.

Yes.
It is easy to learn that because of The Age of Enlightenment men educated in the New sciences, philosophies, and thought, formed the United States.

They depend upon God in whatever language to provide the support that their little brains depend on for purpose to their life. They do not have the intelligence to decide their lives without a divine explaination and need a crutch to depend on for direction.

You are much too beautiful to let these fools get under your skin, and too wise to have to apologise for your rant.

Thomas Jefferson was a founding father, and he wasn't a Christian. I read somewhere that "one nation under God" wasn't even a thing until the 1950's or so.

If I were American I would be really pissed off!

This post has brought up much more than I thought it would. seems to be many people who have strong thoughts on the subject. After giving this some thought all I have to say is that I think we should try not to allow religious law of any kind to come to be. I think the Book of Leviticus is the same for Islam, Christians and Jews. Does anyone know if this is correct. I have tried to get a Koran of Islam, but understand they are only written in Arabic, and I would love to learn Arabic or Farsi, I do not seems to do well learning foreign languages. Any thoughts.
