I used to dislike onions, banana peppers, and tea. I love all of those things now. You?
My worst was mushy vegetables. Any peas and boiled okra. One day at a friend's, I was so hungry I ate black-eyed peas and liked them. It took longer for green peas, but I just came to like food when it's cooked properly. Then I discovered fried okra. Now I can eat any vegetable if it's fried or roasted. My family just didn't know how to cook.
What about mushy cabbage, carrots, spuds and savoury mince. With gravy. I used to live on this when I worked in Bridlington. And for a tiny groat more you could get sponge cake with custard and a cup of tea. Can't believe I got paid for eating my lunch.
I now like cabbage crisp or cooked. Love sweet/sour homemade slaw. Most fast-food slaw is barely passable.
Spinach! I hated that slimy algae from the can, but now I loves me green eggs and ham! 1 - wilt some spinach in the microwave - crack some eggs in a blender, add some olive oil, and the spinach. blend - pour it in a no stick fry pan to cook and add some diced ham - or whatever to taste while a piece of bread toasts and there you go, breakfast, omelet or scrambled - your choice.
Pork and lamb. It wasn't until adulthood that I realized that these items could be prepared without them turning to charcoal. Great lady, but mom never could master them, lol.
I hated eggs as a kid. So much so that my grandparents would have after church brunch of eggs every Sunday and they even broke down and made me something else.
I don’t know where it changed, but I eat eggs regularly now.
I did get turned off for a while when I got some eggs from someone’s chickens locally - I cracked the egg and it wasn’t a yolk inside it ????
Mum, do I have to eat the beak?
I wouldn't eat yogurt, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, spinach, asparagus, cottage cheese. I eat them all now. I'm sure that there are other things I would not eat when I was younger that I do eat now.
Onions, tomatoes, hummus, lettuce, eggs, and beets.
Avocado <3
I really don’t remember too much that I disliked. Or that has changed. Whatever I didn’t like then, I haven’t really gained a taste for.
I grew up in a sort-of Jewish family in Long Island and hated smoked salmon. Plus lima beans. Years later, when I worked in a high-end restaurant and tasted good quality smoked salmon, I got it.
