What to do?

Any ideas on how to address the superdelegate problem? Only thing I can come up with is getting a list of all their names and completely bombard and embarrass them until convention.

Bernie got played last time when he accepted the compromise with the party leaders and Hillary supporters to let the party continue to have superdelegates and not let them vote until the second ballot at the convention. He should have known that the party establishment would be ready for him in four years and rig things with a large, diluted field of candidates so that no one candidate would win on the first ballot and thus the superdelegates would once again be able to nominate another corrupt, corporatist centrist like Biden on the second ballot, which is probably what will happen unless Bernie and Warren join forces to unite their supporters and win on the first ballot.

Most of the superdelegates are already elected officials and they have no shame. Harassing them will not get them to change their votes for the nominee, altho it might make you feel better.

That would take a lot of time and money.

it wouldn't cost money at all that I'm aware of.

VERY good idea. These folks need to understand that subverting the will of the majority of their constituents will come with consequences. That if they choose to do so, they will be ostracized and singled out on social media, and EVERYBODY will know exactly who they are and what they did.

The DNC opted for so-called superdelegates to prevent unelectable, but popular, upstarts from winning the primaries and making them lose the general election, since it's typically undecided, usually middle road, swing voters who ultimately decide US presidential winners.

But the percentage of superdelegates is only 15%, they can't vote on the first Democratic National Convention ballot, two thirds of them have to vote according to their state caucuses wishes, and the rest are to vote only in contested nominations.

Hard to lobby people who can change their minds whenever they wish, but in 2016, the majority of the superdelegates were old, white males. I'm sure the purpose now is to keep shocking, nonwhite, LGBTQ, female, or Progressive candidates from having a place in the process, and making the party lose the general election.

The DNC Unity Reform Commitee plans to allow unaffilliated people to vote in Dem. primaries by allowing same-day registration, so that will help things out a bit, hopefully.

What advantage does a superdelegate have ?. i thought the US was a one man one vote democracy.

@Bierbasstard Well how about that. You learn something every day, but it doesn't explain what a superfdelegate is

@Moravian it is a person who has agreed to vote for one candidate (example: Hilary C.) Regardless of how the convention goes......a far cry from voting ideals!

@Bierbasstard technically we are both a one man one vote democratic republic

That’s a good idea. Another one would be put up a post about what they are up to on Facebook and ask people to share it far and wide.
