LINK A KY School District Found a Brilliant Loophole for the “In God We Trust” Law | Hemant Mehta | Friendly Atheist | Patheos

It's not all 100% bad news. There are some people fighting the good fight.

There may be a God, and if people want to believe it then that is fine. However, the god is not a god that likes to write books, and one that is concerned about what people do while they are naked. He doesn't watch everything people do and give them what they pray for.

Lexington, like most urban areas in Kentucky, is fairly secular. The state gets a bad reputation and is often the butt of jokes, but I’ve lived here all my entire atheist life and have had really no trouble at all.

I'm glad to hear it. I don't know much about life in the Midwest, let alone the actual East. I do remember from my brief times in Atlanta and Ft Lauderdale being struck by the social differences between inside and outside the built up areas.

The arrogance of the state legislature to enact that kind of blatant law seems like the sort of they that could be tried anywhere at any given time when they happen to find themselves with enough votes.

In a way I imagine that they're sort of relentless waiting for for their chances. And I imagine that they see progressives the same way. We'll just have to keep up the pressure so we avoid slipping back.

@motrubl4u I’ve not been to either state, so I can’t say. I’m inclined to believe you though.

Come to Sout6h Georgia and experience a whole new atmosphere.

,,,yeah - I was in the military
the south is BACK WARDS TO HUMANITY,,,
I just could not live there .
If overt racism/ sexism/ bullying- happened I would find it necessary to " do the right thing " .
There are folks here in Pennsylvania that are not racist - yet ARE RELIGIOUS & visa Virsa = not knowing or caring where the RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD is not an excuse. Change , has to be BROAD & DEEP
THANKS

Good work around. But I want to know who I need to contact to raise hell about this?

'This" being the law that requires the slogan to be shown.

@Carin -- Sorry. I'm not enough of a link-foo specialist to be as much help as I might have been. The link still works for me and here is another, more direct, link: [friendlyatheist.patheos.com]

I'm afraid I don't have much beyond that. The link is from the Friendly Atheist on Patheos.

@RichCC Thanks--it worked.

The almighty dollar, framed and displayed. Perfect loophole.

Just as worthless and corrupt as the shitheads trying to cram their blind patriotism and belief in a bearded guy down everyone's throat.
