LINK Ohio Republicans File Bill Forcing Doctors to “Reimplant Ectopic Pregnancy” | Hemant Mehta | Friendly Atheist | Patheos

A new bill, HB 413, sponsored by nearly two dozen Republicans in the Ohio House, would take “all possible steps to preserve the life of the unborn child” including taking a (potentially fatal) ectopic pregnancy and reimplanting it into the woman’s uterus.

That’s not a thing that doctors do. That’s not how anything works.

Yet not considering this option, according to the anti-abortion bill, could lead to a punishment for the doctor for “abortion murder.” Which also isn’t a thing.

Just in passing, I want to mention that this article is a year old.

Any bets on how many doctors say "I'm through!" and leave Ohio over bullshit laws like this?

Yeah. reimplantation isn't something doctors are currently capable of. So, most doctors in Ohio woudl nto practice obstetrics or gynecology.

They are idiots, willfully ignorant.

1

Typical of fucking republicans legislating about human bodies. I bet they are either all male or if not, all religious nut cases.

Just insane

If they keep this up we will be at the experimental stage the Nazis were at under Hitler.

What’s next? A law that all viable sperm cells ejaculated during masturbation must be saved and forced back into the testicles? 😁

Or just make masterbating illegal - those for profit jails need to be filled.

@Beowulfsfriend all those millions of potential babies! The horror! 🤣

JFC

Fuck those assholes.

It is sad that the american taliban are taking over America. It is sad how little science they know. The cluster of cells in the ectopic pregnancy would not survive. The embryo has to form the connection to the placenta within days and once that is severed it will not happen again. All this bill will do is cause further harm and discomfort to the mother when she then has to pass out the clump of cells if she does not develop a septic uterus from the dead cells.

The medical ignorance of those Republicans can only be described as lethal.

Each woman needs and deserves to have absolute control of her reproductive functions, without interference from state or family, especially males.
Speaking as a classical liberal (some would say conservative) atheist, IMHO bill HB 413 is insane.

if the thing lived, (highly unlikely!) it would most likely be stunted. If it died, the mother would die from sepsis as it decayed...but 'way to go, lawmakers.....

Fine...but the Insurance Companies can refuse to pay for it and you know the Woman can't afford it...let the State pay for it...FULL PRICE BILLED BY THE DOCTOR AND THE HOSPITAL..oh and don't forget ALL COSTS ASSOSIATED WITH THE HOST...that includes her DOCTOR and MEDICATIONS and DELIVERY COSTS...what would that add up to???...hmmm I bet $1 MILLION PLUS PER BABY...probably double or triple that in actual billing...😂😂😂see how far the Bill gets when they realize it isn't a free ride...assholes.

Not just assholes, but willfully ignorant arrogant assholes.

These are Republicans, they don't believe in public assistence either. It will mean either women with ectopic pregnancies won't be treated and they die, or we have lots of OBGYN's lose their practice because the requirement of this law doesn't conform to standard medical practices. More women and babies will suffer because of such a law if it ever passes. Pregnancy and childbirth already has a higher mortality rate than does having abortion. It will only increase under such a law.

@anglophone I stand corrected...willfully ignorant, arrogant, ASSHOLES...😂😂😂
