LINK Oklahoma State Rep Proposed Legislation Mandating Vasectomies for Men

An Oklahoma state rep proposed an idea for legislation that would make vasectomies mandatory for young men in the state.

Speaking before a floor of legislators, state Rep. Mickey Dollens said on Thursday that he is thinking about introducing the legislation next year.

"I would invite you to co-author a bill that I'm considering next year that would mandate that each male, when they reach puberty, get a mandatory vasectomy that's only reversible when they reach the point of financial and emotional stability," he told GOP lawmakers.

"If you think that's crazy then I think that maybe you understand how 50 percent of Oklahomans feel, as well," the Democrat said.

It's a good idea in theory. I'm sure some people will have a problem with it and sure it will be religion based.

Anyone who fathers a child and is unable to supply support , it should be automatic snip!

A married couple I know agreed about six years ago that the wife works for pay and the husband does the child care. A year ago they were still doing it.

He came to the US from Poland and for a while owned and operated a small business.

@yvilletom being married is supporting your child, regardless of who is the breadwinner. I should have clarified that. And no woman should be forced to have an abortion anymore than they should be prevented from having one. I am a great supporter of vasectomies, mandatory for anyone convicted of rape or pedophilia. It may not stop them from repeat offending, but it will stop them leaving women with a constant reminder of their trauma.
