LINK Teacher placed on leave after calling out school for banning Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton’s ‘Rainbowland’ - pennlive.com

A teacher in Wisconsin has been placed on administrative leave after stating that the school district she worked for banned students from performing the Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton song “Rainbowland.”

Melissa Tempel is a dual-language first grade teacher at Heyer Elementary in Wisconsin who confirmed to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel via text that she was put on leave. She told the news outlet to ask Alliance for Education in Waukesha for further questions.

The alliance consists of mostly Waukesha parents. The group of parents called for superintendent James Sebert to be investigated, claiming repeated discrimination against LGBTQ+ students and staff members, the news outlet reported.

“This Superintendent and Board began the march toward marginalization last year, and it has only served to stoke fear and sow distrust in the Waukesha Community, which has yielded a pattern of bullying against anyone who calls out the district’s bias and harassment,” the alliance said in a statement. “Now Waukesha is a national laughingstock and the blame for that falls squarely to the feet of the district’s leadership, not those who have the courage to hold them accountable, like Ms. Tempel.”

Sebert confirmed Tempel was placed on leave on Wednesday but did not provide any further comment. He referred a reporter to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Sharon Thiede who also declined to comment.

The Waukesha School Board met in a close session on Wednesday. Though it’s unknown if Tempel being placed on leave was a topic of discussion.

“We cannot discuss any of the details of our closed sessions, so unfortunately, I cannot answer your other questions,” Waukesha School Board President Kelly Piacsek said in an email.

In March, the superintendent said the song’s banishment had to do with “whether it was appropriate for the age and maturity level of the students.”

Doesn't get more Xtian than Dolly so the so-called "school" should tread lightly here. Also, unless they ban all other songs with adult-themed content (that is, anything that pertains to the adult world), then it's obviously illegal. Go ahead and try banning London Bridge Is Falling Down or Ring Around The Rosy. Jolene would make the ears bleed! Last thought is that her last name is Tempel, which rhymes with Temple, and it's not good to mess with those.
