So, a thought I was exploring on another group caused me to be booted from it--oh well. Apparently an opinion piece in the NYT is advocating that Biden only agree to debate Trump if he releases his tax returns and agrees to real time fact checking during the debate--really? Anyone think that will happen? I take it as an attempt to give Biden an out, so that his (you pick) mental failings/stuttering will not hurt him. He is who we have, and he has made some efforts to heal the party, so I am hopeful he will not pull another Hillary (she decided she did not need progressives). I also see from a poll that the two VP candidates with the most support are Warren at I think 36%and Harris at 18%. These two for me represent either end of the spectrum for healing the party. I also assume Harris has already been chosen, since we keep hearing the person must be a woman of color--to me another out, so that Warren can be rejected not because of her politics but because she was too white. Thoughts?

I assume many groups elsewhere are dominated by center right democrats who are true snowflakes. Goodness knows their shouldn't be any question of their chosen one's abilities.

Whether he is better than you is irrelevant, he's running for president, you are not. biden is a wreck mentally as is tRump. If he weren't he'd want to debate tRump since tRump is obviously a demented fool. This is why the vice presidential pick is so important. Biden is picking someone as much like himself as he can so that progressives don't take over his precious party when he is incapacitated by his obvious mental issues.
When are some people going to learn you have to trend toward the center in an election campaign, but if it's a landslide with coattails, he'll govern as a liberal.
AT THE SAME TIME, if that's the case every liberal special-interest group will come calling with hand out, palm up, convinced THEIR cause is of prime importance.
He won't be able to please them all.
Believe me, I think they're all extremely important too, but it'll take someone of vast experience to be able to prioritize.
It won't be easy, which is why Biden is ideal for the job.
