Munchie hasn't been himself the past few days. On Tuesday, when I was home for lunch, he was totally normal. Then when I got home from work, about 2 and a half hours later, he was sitting on the rug in the bathroom. A little weird, but I didnt think much of it. A couple of hours later, he was still there. I tried to get him to come out, but he wasn't having it.
He keeps looking around as if something is going to get him. If he even walks around at all, he does so with extreme caution. He jumps at every movement and sound. He will play if I bring him a toy and he is currently investigating what goodies he can knock off my nightstand, but he's definitely not normal.
What on earth could have happened in two hours that made this formerly hyperactive, happy go lucky boy turn into a big scaredy cat who dosen't want to move? The girls seem fine. I'm very concerned about him and I'm leaving for vacation on Saturday. Should I cancel my plans and take him to the vet?
Edit: I should mention that a lot of people have been setting off fireworks lately because of the holiday. However, they've been doing it for at least a week and he only started this behavior on Tuesday afternoon.
It does sound like something spooked him. Glad he is getting better.
I'm guessing loud noise related.
Heath was alone during a severe thunderstorm just once - and went from ignoring storms to hiding from anything perceived as thunder.
I'm guessing each time Munchie is hearing a firework - it's setting him off again.
You know your cat best though. Maybe set up a hidey box with a blanket in it. It might help. They seem to take comfort in those when scared. (Small cave like confines).
It was the ghost he saw. Probably just got shook by the fireworks, you have no idea what happened while you were gone. My dog was noise shy, but only when she was alone, then would take quite some time to settle once she felt safe again. If it doesn't get better soon, it might be vet time.

Posted by LaurenI thought this was an accurate representation of how we feel every time we remember our last cat, which happens often when my daughter and I laugh over our current cat's antics.
