I don't think even Ronald Reagan would recognise this party now, and I can't believe I'm saying that, and I'm in no way fooled by the hyperbole about Reagan. Sucking up to Russians and dictators? Giving a pass to Neo fascist types? Vilifying migrants? Etc. When you allow a party to be taken over by religious fanatics and oligarchic elites, this is what happens.

You need to remember that Ike could have had the nomination of either party in 1952, and in fact was pursued by leaders of both parties, he was that middle of the road and a war hero. He understood taking care of the people and they will take care of the job philosophy and had just come out as the leader of the largest socialist organization the world had ever known as the Supreme Allied Commander.
