In Canada, the Federal election campaign just kicked off. On October 21st, the Canadians will elect their Prime Minister and the members of the House of Commons. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of the Liberal Party will try to get re-elected.

The Canadian political institutions are very similar to those in the UK.

In the surveys so far, Trudeau and his closest rival, conservative Andrew Scheer are pretty much neck and neck. But there are other parties as well that might win some seats and split up the vote (NDP, Green, Bloc Québécois). We might end up with a minority government.

Right, but how much possible is it that Trudeau's underdog status will improve to running ahead (in coalition with other) in just 5 weeks?
How is it possible to have a national election in 6 weeks? Everyone knows it takes two years. Crazy talk!!
