I pulled up a couple little carrots 4 weeks ago and have to admit they were bland. I am inexperienced with carrots, not sure if the soil was nutrient-poor or what. Turns out they were just immature. Pulled these babies a few minutes ago, and Oh! The aroma! They are wonderful. Carrots tonight! Carrots go good with pizza, right? (Just say "sure".)
Not sure why the photos keep loading sideways. I can't see how to rotate them. They are upright in my photo gallery.
Anyhoo, all you carrot experts out there. This is my maiden carrot year. How long can I wait to harvest once the carrots are ripe? I would like to take just a few at a time and leave some for butterflies.
Mike, you are going to have carrots out the ears. They won't last long after maturing before they get bitter. You can freeze them.
