Now when I have downsized and live in a town house with three courtyards I don't have much garden. I will dig out some of the fake grass and plant a some herbs.

Why not use pots, wall hangers & boxes?

FrayedBear Level 9 Aug 21, 2021

I do that too, but I want to put in a fig tree and I think it would be better in the ground.

@Jolanta Agreed. But will it grow in the cold & do you have room. There was a beauty in the yard at Nhill. It had to be best part of 80' high.
Sadly I think I lost, lst summer, a beautiful peach tree that escaped the pot & then lost it's root when I moved it

@FrayedBear I have room and yes figs grow here in Canberra.

It is hard to give up real gardening. Health has forced me to do the same.

What you need is a pet coyote. You get basil and a friend.

You can always use pots for your herbs. I put my basil in pots on my deck, it kept the bunnies away. Last year they ate most of my basil before I could harvest any.

I planted chives in a planter . My cat loves to roll in them .

@Cast1es I have catnip planted in pots on my deck. The neighbor cats come around from time to time. They often "shadow box" with my kitties through the deck door. It is quite amusing.

@HippieChick58 Thank you for that tip. I love cats but do not want one of my own, but ones that would visit well that is another idea.
