I love to think I'm the bottom picture and disdain the top one. Reality though.... is a tough taskmaster. I've lived both extremes. I found I really don't like either. So, I've settled for the best of both worlds, for me, at least. I live on a bit less than 2 acres in a very quiet 'burb. All my neighbors and I get along. We've wildlife such as deer, foxes, lots of prarie, forest, and water fowl. Coyotes! It's a 15 minute drive to state parks and lakes. Lots of trails to hike in local parks and reserves, including a world class arboritum. Yet, I'm a 20 minute or less drive to all doctors, dentists, and agaIn, world class medical facilities. I'm spoiled by technology and while I'm selective in what I use, it's there. I'm retired, but can return to work, if I was crazy enough to do that, with a 25 minute interstate commute. I run a small hobby business out of a dedicated workshop attached to my home. UPS, FedEx, and the postal service all support it. But there's a great state part run rifle range a 15 minute drive from my house.
A compromise between the two shown extremes suits me.
I am a natural man, so that is an easy choice.,. But I do not disregard a comfortable lifestyle.
See my post brother.
