Continuous rain, temps in the mid 40s, windy... typical December day here in S. Ohio. So I decided to start some Canna lily seeds indoors. My Canna lily beds were wiped out while we were traveling by a freak ice/snow storm. I'm pretty sure the tropical bulbs I usually dig up and store are dead. I'm hoping these seeds will sprout and I can grow the plants large enough inside to transplant outdoors and have them flower.
I've never tried to grow cannas from seed before, always the tubers. Keep us posted as they progress.
I grew a few this past year from seed. Even neglected, and pot-bound they got a foot or so tall. I'll try transplanting them into the garden in the spring. I'm thinking that the way they spread, they're probably considered weeds in the tropics.
Good luck! Looks like a good start.
Thank you!

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
