No mix gas, no numb hands and almost no noise.
I have two scythes, one is all aluminium and that is my favourite to use. A keen edge is critical so I keep a stone in my pocket when I use it and hone it every few minutes.
She makes me nervous, no shoes with a sharp blade. That is a disaster waiting to happen.
I'm a little tired already, but I might start doing this in certain areas of the yard. Anyone know if it works as well on shorter grass, or is it useful only on the taller vegetation?
@Shouldbefishing That's kinda tall grass in the video but I don't mind letting mine getting to that height. My neighbors might think differently though.
My grandfather had one, even after he got a city job, they had about 5 acres. Cut hay for milk goats and sheep by hand. They had a big flock of chickens, Sunday dinner (noon) was walking around Sunday morning and the garden made a serious contribution to the food supply.
That is one way to get your exercise!
Posted by ZsterI live in a very hard clay soil area and routinely time my ground work around softening rains.
Posted by LorajayMany of my shrubs look like they may not make it after our 12 days of extreme freezing weather but my Chinese quince is prettier than it's ever been. Perhaps it would prefer a colder climate.
