From the day we were married until the day she died, we were together for 42 years, 2 months and 13 days. I remember the day we got married. All the TV weathermen said that the temperatures would be in the very low 30's with drizzle and snow showers on and off all day. That day turned out to have temperatures in the mid 70's and the sun shone all day long.
We got married in her Grandmother's house, where she grew up. After the reception, we went on our one night Honeymoon to the Howard Johnson's Motorlodge in Westbury, NY. We went to the restaurant for dinner and when the manager found out we just got married, they served us some really good Chianti. There was a 50's revival going on at the Westbury Music Fair not far from the motel. Most of the performers were there. Since we were really busy with our own thing, we didn't realize it. The next morning, when we went to check out, we saw BB King, 2 doors down from us. We waved to him and he waved back. I'm the kind of person that believes that everyone is entitled to their privacy, so we didn't impose ourselves on him.
At that time, I didn't have a car (Someone dropped us off there) so the trip home was trying. It was cold and windy and we didn't have any jackets or sweaters or anything to keep us warm. We had to walk the 10 miles back to her Grandmother's house where we were going to stay. We made it.
That's how our married life began and I miss her more than I think I've ever missed anyone. The was taken the day we were married, March 15, 1975.

I know it's a cliche but life did seem simpler then. B. B. King is an all time favorite that was a special memory. I think it is important to focus on the good times rather than the suffering, don't you. I believe our loved ones would want that.
