So what is the main reason most of you are on here? General conversations or attempting to find like minds nearby to date?

A little of both, I must say though that talking with undeluded people is very refreshing for a change.

Living in a very conservative, church going (they say they attend church) red neck area. I joined to maybe fnd some one close that has some of my same ideals. ALAS I have yet to find that person. My wife is a believer, and yet gives me no guff about boing non-believer.

There should be a "Both" option.

I found this place right about the time I deleted my Fakebook (or I hope I have).
It is what one makes of it.
Even some Christians enjoy hearing us heathens rave here.

We sure do. Its a great site. I’m glad someone suggested I try it.

I joined from a random link I seen about chatting in an atheist/agnostic community from all around the world. Didn't know there was a dating aspect until I joined.

I tend to lurk in the shadows, reading and then occasionally spout off some nonsense when the mood takes me 🙂

No one on here near me except a couple of very pretty girls short drive away but I am now sort of involved with someone.

I signed up for the dating, but after reading through posts here, I think there's gonna be some grrrreat conversation 🙂

Here to see what direction you lost souls fall

The conversation is interesting and attempting to level up means that an identifiable goal can be measured. Often in daily life there is no way to measure how you are doing (perhaps getting a grade in school or a raise at work) but here I can see how I am doing. Then I can brag to my employees on how lucky they are to work for someone who is a 5.2. Of course I get blank stares but still deep down, I am happy. Of course the possibility of finding someone who would want to go out on a date is also fun to think about.

I enjoy reading, laughing and responding to posts. So far, there are no members who live near me in Wenatchee, WA. I don't expect to find someone to date.

Every message I receive is from men who live thousands of miles away.

What she said. I'm still living in Songkhla, Thailand, so can't really expect to meet anyone yet. Besides, I've not once seen someone my age with my interests.

I wouldn't expect it either. conversing anonymously is the new norm.
Oh and its the rainbow one. They don't touch the ground?
How would you know you were standing in one? and what about the whole 'POT OF GOLD' thing?

@gdharwe

I have met two other hikers who stood in a rainbow high in the mountains during a rainstorm. People don't believe them, either. Men lecture me on refracted light and insist it is impossible. Here's what happened:

At age 23 I was backpacking on Mt. Shuksan near Mt. Baker. We camped above the tree line at around 7,000' elevation. That evening we saw the sunset behind Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The next day a massive storm blew in. Hail piled up like snowdrifts, washing ptarmigan birds downhill. ("PEEP! Peep... peep... pe...." ) Lightning struck around us. ("Here, you hold my ice axe." ) Pouring rain soaked us to the skin. The sun shone in a nearby valley.

And we stood in a rainbow. We could see the rainbow colors on each other's faces. I stuck out my arms and marveled at the colors on my arms. It only lasted a minute or two. We were not high. My hiking partner was a medical doctor.

Afterwards the sun steamed our backs as we slogged our way to the car.

This was a PEAK EXPERIENCE of my life.

@LiterateHiker Beautiful. I need to put something like that on my bucket list.

The poll needs a third option. Here to find like minds and great conversation nearby for just friendship.

3

I voted for conversation but only because there aren’t very many in my area. Dating would be great though!

3

I'm here for the conversations. I gave up the whole dating thing a while back.

It's a long story ..non binary answer haha

I'm here for the dating, like minded people makes it easier when not judged. Hoping to meet someone near by in Canada but ready to relocate if I receive some good vibes.Meanwhile I will enjoy the conversations with all you real people.

Looking to get back in to the dating game, but its particularly difficult being located in the Midwest, I deffenetly fell like a fish out of water here. So I guess a bit of both.

I decided to be a crazy cat person. Give up on a gf long ago

Should have one for both! Conversation more so though.

Its a lot better than face book . My only friend that was an atheist is now serving 2 life sentences in a prison 3 1/2 hrs away . It seems every time I come out to some one I think might be an atheist turns out they aren't , even people in the field of science and medicine .

Mostly I'm just wasting time, but that wasn't an option

To find a married woman of like mind.
