Cartoon repeat. For me, the age doesn't matter(I'm 70), but it has to do with fitness. I am very fit and active, a lifetime athlete, Jack Lalanne clone and am looking for a companion. Very few women near my age even have a pulse and the younger ones think I'm too old even though I can run them into the ground, so I am left alone.

My dad was married to a much younger woman for a while. He said she made him forget he was aging, made him feel young again... until he found out she was cheating on him and was only with him for the security. It kinda hit the fan after that.

If you're an older man, you need to enter in to a relationship like that knowing something like this will eventually happen, if it's not happening right off the bat.

I remember a magazine ad I saw a few years back where there was a picture of an old man sitting in a booth at a fancy restaurant with some 20 something socialite. The caption underneath said: Sure she's using me for my money! You got a problem with that??

@webbew1 You remind me of something Melania said in an interview with Barbara Walters. Barbara asked if she'd married him for his money. She replied, "Would he have married me if I weren't beautiful?"

@LucyLoohoo

Yep. Only an idiot wouldn't realize that Melania's got a little sumpin', sumpin' on the side. Then again, this is Trump we're talking about, so.....

@webbew1 He knew she was younger but she lied about how young. Why he stayed with her when he found out I don't know, that youth thing maybe.

I am finding it harder to keep up with younger lovers...they still have a lot of things they want to do and experience, and I just don't any more...best to be friends and occasional FWB...I am tired and I wanna go to bed...to sleep!

You and I would get along very well ..

I'm reading Robert Wright's the moral animal and he reinforces much of our attraction is biological and we've evolved to be attracted to people based on fertility. Younger women tend to be more fertile.

Conversely men's sperm cab be viable well into our 90s , although it seems likely some developmental issues are tied to older sperm but I doubt evolution could figure that out and make 50 year old men less attractive based on a 5% increase in Down Syndrome babies. Societies have encouraged young women to look at older men as viable mates for eons bc older men are more stable. Young men have less security plus they're statistically a lot more likely to kill themselves stupidly.

I've dated a few younger women. All were within 10 years except one who was 17 years younger. I dismissed her until a mutual friend encouraged me. She was going into grad school so was a thoughtful 23. She'd never had an orgasm during sex either, so was insatiable which always makes a middle-aged dude feel good. Even though she was remarkable mature and thoughtful, my 80s and 90s references and jokes going over her head got old and so did her lack of subtlety. Pert boobies and a perfect stomach can only make up for so much in lack of conversational skills.

Sometimes, it's ego. It makes them feel young to have a younger woman dangling off their arm, and the woman usually wants diamonds hanging off hers. In the case of older women, younger men, sometimes, it's the sex. Let's face it, nobody wants to get old, so whatever makes one feel better, I'm all for it!

And sometimes it just works regardless of age difference! 😉

I don't know, but I'm glad they do. I adore much older men. But younger men have pursued me as well, and they tell me they prefer mature women. Now I've got one of each and that makes me a happy woman.

I think that in part it is instinctual, as a part of reproductive drive. If you put things in terms of hunter gatherer societies it makes sense to want younger women to bear children as they are most likely goign to be aroudn long enough until the kids are old enough to survive on their own.

Just because society and cultures have changed does not mean instinctual drive tht have got us to this point have also changed.

Then again, some men are just lecturous selfish assholes.

I agree with your basic analysis; however, I don't see how wanting an attractive woman as a man gets older makes him an asshole.

@skeptic99 It's those who are condescending and behave as if they are entitled and/or take petty revenge when rejected, who are assholes. I did not say they had to be old to qualify.

Well as an older man, i think i can offer some thoughts to this conversation, hopefully without offending any women. lol younger women aren't as uptight about sex. my generation of women just were raised different. now i know that there was sex going on, but it wasn't as open or talked about as much. the culture wanted guys to go for it, and for women not to be so available for it. save it for marriage was the process put forth by schools , church and moms.
the younger women are just more relaxed about sex. the stigma of being sexually active has been eroded away by the society we live in today. the kids call it hooking up where we called it one night stands. neither of which has happened to me. hahaha i think its more generational than any thing else.

Women were really relaxed about sex when I was 19 1973 , I got laid a lot and had numerous one night stands , nothing has really changed still the same , make sure you are safe though ..

not all men ive met lots and lots that like older women

I dated a guy pushing 60 and even he thought I was too young for him at 53.

@MissKathleen Hey Kathleen, I'm "up a holler"

@MissKathleen Come up anytime

Some think her youth will be passed to them by "osmosis"...eliminating the need for viagra.. 🙂

@ProudMary But for some reason "unknown" to us ..ONLY the rich old guys are the ones with the young bunnies....🙂🙂🙂

@ProudMary I noticed...indeed...but I can't think of a reason why old wrinkles -all over- and money attract peachy and blossoming skin.....Hummmmmmm (Duchessa is thinking)

@ProudMary I think I heard that exceptions confirm the rules

I don't want a younger woman , I want someone my age that knows me and we are able to relate and share humor , knowledge and life experience ..

2

My first kiss was with someone 2 years older. Lost my virginity (had it for 19 years and never got any use out of it) with a lady 7 years older. In grad school, got engaged to someone 7 years younger. My ex is 3 1/2 years older. Now in my 50s and divorced, I've been out with ladies several years older and younger both, and exactly my age too. Maybe I defy the norm, maybe I just can't guess women's ages, maybe I'm just attracted no matter the age.

2

I'd like a woman closer to my age. Sure young ladies are nice to look at but that isn't enough for me.

That men want, as in prefer, younger women is attributable to what male dominated, superficially focused 'kultur' has done to men, women and human sexuality. That would be damage.

The many kinds of damage cannot be adequately addressed in a small comment section. On this specific topic, my personal views are naturally colored as much by personal experience as study.

Some of the damage done to women takes the form of body dissatisfaction; even body shame and dislike. It begins early and cripples many a woman's ability to be proud of what she 'brings to the table'; since so much of sexuality in our society is treated as a business deal. Some of the male damage is inflicted with false notions of superiority and diminution of women as existing for us and our purposes over any of her purposes. These may seem to be but are not meant as exclusive causes. I see many others.

As generalized effects of these kinds of damage, I also see women in more advanced years 'doing without' sexual activity for long periods of time. This coupled with body image aspects in romanticizing and nostalgia, but distancing from actual sexual involvement by ages when males are still arrested in teen era fixations on hard bodies and self pleasuring. All too many men have never felt a necessity to even bring something to the table that couldn't be measured with a ruler... It sounds gross and simplistic, but personal perspectives have that kind of license and emotion.

What can possess deeper beauty for men who love women than soft, nurturing affection and wisdom? It is and ought to be absolutely mother-like; primal and stirring of the best we have to offer. The greater part of beauty, perhaps by far the greatest, cannot be perceived by the eyes alone. Unfortunately for all, we males are by nature or by conditioning visually oriented; at least to begin with.

All males are not automatically drawn to younger; to skin-deep attractions; to a role of domination. Most though do and those who don't tend to look toward younger women because (depending on the man's age) many contemporary or elder females have unnecessarily taken themselves out. Females are greater in number and many younger women actually do seem to be attracted to older men. (also part of the damage) Hope my views at least provide a peek at some answers.

After menopause a lot of women lose interest in or simply can no longer function sexually.

@skeptic99 When it happens it is for the most part, self-imposed because of a lot of anti-life notions that were instilled early. TRAGIC!

@MissKathleen I have never had a problem in that area , I know where all of the parts are and if a woman wants to have fun I make sure they have an orgasm , then we really start having a lot of fun !!

I think that's integral to our animal natures, being attracted to young, physically attractive potential mating partners. I know several women who are openly honest about their preference for younger men as well. Certainly there's a raw appeal of sex with someone in their physical (if not necessarily sexual) prime. Specifically regarding men, there's also a kind of mid-life crisis dynamic in play: If we attract a younger woman, it reaffirms our virility & vitality. Years ago I read an article in which it was called "the Jennifer syndrome." Also, younger women may be less inclined to call men on their potential bullshit, only because they've had less life experience. What one can miss out on is the emotional maturity--not to mention sexual appeal & prowess--women can acquire from a live lived and lessons gleaned. Not to trivialize it, but it's kind of like a REALLY good Bonnie Raitt song. Because we are animals (admittedly complex but animals still), that long-term benefit is often overlooked in the pursuit, and unfortunately some guys never achieve that level of wisdom.

I tend to prefer women in their 30's. You have a pretty good idea of what you're getting yourself in to with a woman over 30. By then, they either have their head on straight or they likely never will.
They also still have enough youthful exhuberance left that they're fun to be around.

I answered this a while back and got in trouble. LOL

Nature has -wired men to find women who are the peak of their fertility the most attractive. We think we are turned on by their beauty, but at a deeper instinctive level we are seeking healthy women who are perfect for having our babies. Few women are truly pretty, but so long as a women is fit, not much overweight, and not past child-bearing years we will be attracted to them. I know few of us are actually thinking about having children when we are thinking about , but this is what our basic machine language is programmed for. Once you hit menopause, Nature has programmed men to ignore you. We have to learn otherwise. I have a girlfriend who is 62. We live several hours from each other, so we cannot see each other often. She is in great shape and with her is as good as it gets.

Wow! What kind of censoring software do they have on this sight? Several quite benign worlds were snipped out of my post, making it confusing at times.

My range is 40 & older. I have a hard time finding one that can keep up with me that has not been damaged by past relationships & religion. Life is a journey & later this month I will start on a road trip for 4 months traveling S. US to LA & then up to Napa, CA. No agenda, just a road trip that will return me to S. FL in November. Sites to see & people to visit along the way & I will embrace each with no time line.

@MissKathleen, married for 32 years in Ohio & had my family. Divorced in 2000 & moved to Key West & in my final 11 years there with the same lady until she returned to her youth religion. I have lived here on the mainland now for 14 months & have gotten to know 3 ladies. Each one as we got to know each other ended up having a check off program that they looked at after comfortable. I walked away from each because I'm open & expose myself. I'm happy with who I am & know just to move on. I do not do drama. Time for a road trip to just go place unseen.

@MissKathleen, I'm a Degreed Food Scientist 50 years ago & this year Graduated from eCornell in "Nutritional Studies"! I have served on a Medical Board for over 20 years of my life. I have become a CBD/Hemp/Cannabis expert giving Drs. advise now on Dosing for CBD's & MM! I have added WFPB to that now & have been ask by Heart Diseases & Cancer Drs. to meet & discuss Nutrition for treatment of all Diseases. Thank, I'll be ok. I'm have friends & family along the way & want to go to the Boarder to see what is happening!

@MissKathleen, Thank You & that sounds nice. I'm going to travel very simple via car & I'm hoping to confirm my beliefs that most people are good. This is an opportunity that has just come up & I just want to grab it and go with it. Knowledge is my greed. I love it. I'll try to keep in contact for your good advise. I'll try to contact @racocn8.....too.

Because men instinctively know that being with a much younger woman will increase their lifespans, plus add more progeny to their DNA contribution.

Men live longer when they marry younger spouses. Why don't women? [theguardian.com]

I don't understand older women often demand marriage, or least an exclusive relationship, before they will get involved with you. This makes no sense to me, unless it's a reflection of their insecurity.

@skeptic99 Most women don't go into relationships looking for sex, as men do. They want security, romance, flowers, adoration. Older women are simply no longer willing to put up with men who only want to satisfy their urges.

@birdingnut Men are willing to put up with women so they can pass their genes into the future. Once that stage is passed, I suppose old men have little in common with old women.

@MissKathleen It is, but with women, sex is only a part of it. If the goal of cis hetero women was only sex, then they would all be sex workers or engage in risky casual hook ups, with no benefit to them except the risk of STDs and pregnancy. Some women do this, but those are usually women who got a high dose of male hormones in the womb.

@MissKathleen Thank you I could not agree more !!!

1

Because we figure it will take them longer to find us out...!

1

Because they don't have saggy tits and wrinkly faces !

@MissKathleen
True, tha5s why I don't have mirrors around !
