Regarding the recurring question about how the Christian community especially those closest to fundamentalistm whole heartedly support D. J. Trump as a president there are a few ideas that come to mind.
I was born into and raised LDS (Mormon) and was fortunate enough to learn to question the” facts” that were presented to me as explanation to the contradictory nature of religion in general. Basically I learned that the demonization of asking questions and demanding coherent explanations is a common tenant in indoctrination so much so that I have seen many peers not only rejected by the congregation but by families as well. I contend that the high suicide rates associated with these communities has a tap root into an indoctrinated culture and the rejecting of those who don’t or cannot fit in.
When you are raised to believe whatever an authority tells you and asking questions is basically forbidden it is fertile ground for a charlatan with any degree of charisma.
Another point is that while these are self proclaimed Christians they are much less believers in Christ and much more worshipers of the God of Abraham. I have studied the old testament both as religious text and as literature and the contradictions, betrayals, destruction of anything deemed a failure , and testing or torture of the faithful remind me allot of the modern White House especially when the top dog needs constant praise and unfaltering obedience.
Given that there is something familiar about Donald and critical thinking is out of the question I find him an absolutely appropriate leader of the faithful.

I would say that 90 percent of Evangelicals back cafet bone spurs because he will overturn Roe v. Wade.Once that's done they will work to get Pence in and usher in the theocracy!

I agree that his promises to further a Christian agenda are appealing however many GOP candidates made those same promises. It just baffled me how the "Moral Party" could chose someone so vile as their leader.

It's all about the judges. Trump promised to pack the benches with conservatives who would decide in favor of the Christian agenda.

Lemmings - his followers are lemmings marching to the sea not questioning his policies of racism, anti-immigration and self profiting from the US Government.

I’d agree, trump’s not religious, he’s a semi-charismatic narcissistic opportunist harvesting the confusion and anger of a nation primed for decades by industrialist puppeteers. It didn’t take much, just name recognition and a total lack of morality … wrapped in the ‘american flag.’

It’s also taken the obedience of a political party devoted to those industrialist puppeteers… And, an incoherent, scattered, purist, unreliable bickering loose conglomeration of an opposition to hand it over…

Is it trumps fault, or ours ~

Christians of the GOP are a little like a a fat little gun-totting cowboy..that hates all non cowboys.

They take a saddle..lets call that the GOP..and put that saddle on a crazy short sighted black-hearted mean Bull..lets call him Trump.

Then they close their eyes, take the reins with one hand..and dig their spurs in... Right in the middle of a China shop..

Is it any surprise that all the cups..and saucers and plates get smashed up???

No...

But their eyes are still closed. ?????

I'm not an American, but I would have voted for him if I was. NOT because I like him or what he represents. I view most politicians as corrupt lieyers (how the hell do you spell that?), I'm hoping the election of Trump over an elite family such as the Clinton's will shake things up and force the parties to offer something more for the people, perhaps even some honesty.

I'm not an American” Good.

@Varn What's your problem?

@rsabbatini I'm NOT an American.
"misled to think that Trump will "shake things up"" - maybe so, but a better chance than if Clinton (more of the same) got in right?

@smoyleWhat's your problem?” trump Supporters ~

It's not just the fundamentalist. I had an aggressively atheist friend (the type that looks make fun of religion) go from "I'd vote for Hillary "I love trump, lock her up".
His thing was more misogyny. It was women's fault wages were low, men should have a say in abortions, things like that. Trump spoke and enhanced every deplorable thought in him, and religion has nothing do with it.

We need to grow up and realize you cannot legislate abortion. I see how men are scared of abortion since we all come from a woman's womb. The idea must scare them to death and they want some religious input here in order to gain control, but Jesus said nothing on the issue.

That’s a subject rarely mentioned.. The men who voted for trump as not to vote for a women. Most were very quiet about it … with several other ‘reasons’ to give before the real one..

@DenoPenno there are many who want to legislate things which would only make them more dangerous. Abortion can never be banned, just done in dark corners. Just like drugs and , banning it just makes a bigger criminal market for thing that could be safly regulated.

@Varn what's alarming is he doesn't see that Hillary being a women was an issue for him. I'd be less alarmed if they were honest about their bias. You could reason from the same reality, but if you have to spend time showing them That their own reasons don't add up, things get crazy.

@Jess2zz Banning abortion is a severe set back to women's healthcare.

@DenoPenno absolutely, but they don't care. They will burn down every right and liberty in the country, roll around in the ashes, get black lung disease (which they have no health coverage for) and celebrate. Why? Because they won.

Because despite, or perhaps because of his faults, they believe he is the one that will hasten the battle of Megiddo and the end days.
Hey.
No one ever accused them of being....sane.

Sometimes trumps followers scare me more than trump does!

@Redheadedgammy agree!!

It is some indication of desire for the end of times.

I think it's more about power and agenda that a religious belief. These people want to impose their religious views on everyone, basically make the US a Christian theocracy, so badly that they are willing to make a deal with the devil himself to get the job done. They know they don't have a strong case for it and people are realizing it and leaving religion in droves. These people feel their power over the people slipping away and will not allow that to happen at any cost, even if it means destroying the very foundation they stand on. If they are going down, they are taking all of us with them.

Spot on correct. Word.

What’s also a factor is how the owner class has fed their ignorant religious shock troops, it wins elections … but may also lead to the collapse of the society that’s made them billion$..

@Varn Yes, exactly. Demolish the four dation and the house comes crashing down.

I think Donald Trump and the Republican Party are both using each other. He is an opportunist and saw them as a vehicle to power, we all know that he is not a conviction politician,, he is not even a politician of any kind. I think his faith is also questionable, he can’t possibly be a bible believing Christian and do and say the things he does.
The Republicans are pleased to keep him in the White House as it gives them the power to push their right wing agenda, although it must be hard for some of them to listen to the moronic tweetings and the uneducated vocabulary that Trump uses. They hold their noses and bite their tongues as the prospect of another term in office looms large.
