Ok, since politics is annoying me here is a random silly post. I am thinking of cutting my hair. If you have had long hair and gone short, any regrets? My hair is to my shoulders. Perhaps this post only applies to females? But if you are a guy and you had long hair and cut it I guess you would know too!

I wear it really short now and wish I had done so long ago.

I used to have really long hair, about down to the middle of my back. Then one day I saw a picture of me. It was taken from behind. I saw that faint bald spot peeking out from underneath the base of my pony tail. I realized that I was starting to look like so many aging hippies I had made fun of in my punk rock years. (I actually haven't left my punk rock years.) I cut my hair, shave my head, and have never looked back.

Good choice!

I've had it down to my knees. I've also shaved my head. I have to say I prefer my hair long because when it's short it's a mess of cowlicks and actually needs more product to avoid looking unkempt than when it's long.

I love short hair. I have naturally curly hair, ten minutes and I’m done. Men love my hair.
I never understood long hair at all. Everyone I know that has it, wears it up most of the time. Long hair can be aging if it’s not styled properly. It drags you down, hides your neck.

I think my face is too big for short hair

Half-Irish, my thick, wavy hair has been delightful, although heavy and hot in the summer.

Every time I had short hair, my hair winged off in different directions. It only looked good the day I washed it. I'm not willing to wash my thick hair every day. It takes forever to dry!

In 2016, I let my hair stylist friend layer my hair. Big mistake.

"I wanted you to see what it's like to have thin hair like me," she said.

To me, the layers looked raggedy, split and (I never told her) trashy.

Have been growing out the layers ever since. Thanks goodness my hair grows fast.

What do you think?

It looks good!

Going opposite way here. Had lost it with chemo twice and now letting it grow down my back.

Men love long hair on women so many women have it for that reason. But not everyone believes their hair to exists to please men.

I keep my hair length just above my shoulders and because it's wavy, it stays higher than that. I cut my hair myself when it starts to annoy me, by frizzing out from the sides of my head, or getting in my eyes.

I don't even look in a mirror..I just grab small handfuls of hair, slide my fingers down the clump of hair until I feel it taper off, then snip off the spindly end tips.
I keep doing this all over my head until I no longer see frizzy, jagged hair. It doesn't take long, and the wave in my hair makes it look OK afterward.

My hair is pretty straight so I would have jagged pieces everywhere. No man in my life so my hair is my own. Actually, it would be whether I had a man in my life or not.

Personally I like longer hair, but whatever makes you happy ,🙂
Did you try one of those apps to see what different styles would look like on you ?
We could vote on them. Lol

I have not tried That!

My hair is almost to my waist now...I hated it each time I got a bug up my butt to cut it short...I thought it took more effort to take care of short hair than my long hair. But, that being said, it will grow back...mine grows really fast. I say, if you want a big change, go for it!

I’ve had hair down to my bum all the way to pixie. I change my hair when I feel like it. When men tell me they prefer my hair long, I tell them, nobody asks you!!! I had a short bob not too long ago streaked with burgundy fuchsia. It was fun. I find with short styles I feel sporty. Unfortunately my hair grows fast and shorter styles disappear quickly. Longer hair is easier to deal with for me, more or less wash and wear.

Maybe I should change the color.

@GreatNani They have sites where you can upload your pic and try on different hairstyles and colours. Because my hair is black I had to have my hair bleached and I would never do that again. But it was fun when it lasted.

@graceylou my hair is dark as well. So it looks like I am keeping it long and dark!

@GreatNani May be some layering?

If you have kids,they may not recognize you for a while.just like if your husband or boyfriend shaved off his mustache,the kids will stare,sure understand the voice, but no the changed appearance.

I love having short hair. Lopped it off and bleached it when I got divorced to match my lighter emotions. No regrets. Find a bunch of pics of cuts you like and work with your stylist. Some short cuts can deb spiked or not, so you’ll have options. And it’s just hair—if you want to grow it back that’s easy to do.

Every short cut = instant regret every single time! My hair is MUCH easier to care for long. My natural waves end up cut somewhere near where they start which results in cowlicks and hair that HAS to be tamed to be presentable.

Waves in long hair can add body to a straight look or be scrunched into tousseled curls. Easy peezy!

That's what I am afraid of!

1

Not a single regret. Went from middle of my back to a pixie. Fucking awesome. Saves time, hair products, no fuss, no muss.

That would be nice! No products, no time. My morning would be easier for sure

2

I’ve cut my hair several times throughout my lifetime. Each and every time I regretted doing so. I don’t plan on doing it again. I do need a trim, though.

I've been thinking of cutting my hair and my beard, but still on the fence. Had long hair and beard since I was a baby ? I say don't cut it, you look good

It's been 12 years since I had to deal with hair issues of any kind but I like your hair as it is. Still, the only way to know how a short cut will look on you is to do it.

I vote go for it.

But if it looks awful I will have to grow it out! ?

@GreatNani Yeah but it might look great. It's a 50/50 shot either way.

@Sgt_Spanky I don't know if I am that much of a risk taker! 🙂

@GreatNani Take the risk. If it turns out you don't like it, it'll grow back and then you'll know. I waited years to shave my head because I didn't want to be bald but when I had hair I just looked like a guy who's losing his hair and that's not a good look for anyone. No way was I going to be one of those combover guys.

So I bit the bullet and shaved it all off. I looked so much better without hair and have never regretted it. but I didn't know it would work on me til I tried it.

@Sgt_Spanky I may use one of those apps where you put in your picture and you can see how you look. Then no risk. I am actually not afraid to take risks but my hair.....🙂

@GreatNani If technology can give you a preview so much the better. If you see the perfect cut, print it out, take it to the hairdresser, give her the picture and say "I want this."

@Sgt_Spanky That's the plan!

I love long hair on a woman, just sayin, you have to take care of it.

That's a beautiful head of hair who is it?

@SukiSue My wife, Annette who passed 2 1/2 years ago I loved to brush and comb it for her.

@starwatcher-al that's beautiful.

@starwatcher-al, she had the most beautiful hair I've ever seen!

@sassygirl3869 Thank you, she always wanted to cut it so i said OK, and I'd trim it even at the bottom and that's all.

@sassygirl3869, @SukiSue Thank you Suki, she got a lot of comments on it. it turned silverish early on, She always said that I gave her premature grey hair.
