Lost Girl

Hah!! Name drop time.. I child minded Anna (Lost Girl) when she was a preteen. It was really odd to watch her as an adult acting.. I wasn't a fan of the show.. found the writing. hmmm.. lacking.. to put it politely. But enjoyed tuning in once in a while to watch Ms. Silk strut her stuff ( and yes Silk is her real name not a stage nom de plume). I haven't seen her in person for many years but she was a real gem of a youngster. I can only imagine she is as giving a person now as she was then🙂

I'm sticking to fiction here, so no competition shows, so-called reality programs, no science or how-to shows, etc.

Older shows

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer (comedy, action, drama, romance, all well done, something for everyone, bear with the first season though)
  • Picket Fences (drama, ethics, some humor, very smart)
  • Star Trek: The Next Generation (science fiction, humor, action, ethics, philosophy)

  • Rick and Morty (science fiction, philosophy, comedy)
  • BoJack Horseman (comedy, drama, all the feels)
  • Archer (comedy, action, absurdity)

Recent shows

  • Westworld (science fiction, philosophy, action, suspense)
  • The Good Place (comedy, drama, ethics, loads of fun)
  • Black Mirror (anthology, surreal, philosophical, horror)

Game of Thrones.
Breaking Bad.
The Sinner.
True Detective.

How to get away with murder
Breaking Bad
Sons of anarchy

Buffy The Vampire Slayer (always my first choice)
Being Human (US version)
Shameless (US version)

  • Spaced
  • The Bridge
  • Game of Thrones
  • The Simpsons

6 - The Sopranos
7 - Star Trek (original)
8 - Justified
9 - The Simpsons
10 - Freaks & Geeks

  5. Batman: The Animated Series

5. Supernatural

  1. Counterpart

5. Stargate SG-1 / Atlantis
4. Breaking Bad
3. Psych
2. Farscape

  1. House

And sgu? Where is sgu?

@Pedrohbds I feel like SGU was trying too hard to capitalize on the dark, gritty tone of Battlestar Galactica, and didn't have a clear idea of how to do it. It wasn't even a bad concept, but the plot seemed overwhelmed with darkness without enough substance to sustain it.

JasonNash, I really enjoyed SG-1, and I'm ambivalent about Atlantis. There were things to like, of course, but I always felt like exploration of Atlantis itself could have been a bigger part of the plot — but maybe that would have fractured the storyline too much. Farscape was great, too — lots of tough questions about philosophy and ethical dilemmas, plenty of action, trippy by times, suspenseful, great character development.

  1. Battlestar Galactica (2004)
This one is a nice discussion of every aspect and grey areas of society

  2. Seinfeld
    Humor in its natural shape

  3. South park
The first seasons are random nonsense, but the new ones are worderful social critics double down episode is the perfect description of the Trump effect for example.

I love Seinfeld.

@Redcupcoffee I became a fan when I was in the Air Force, and was counting the days until I got discharged

@Redcupcoffee I like MASH because it reminds me of my childhood... Both my parents were huge MASH fans so we watched every day it was on... Of course, there were only 3 TV stations at that time, so choices were limited... But still, such great memories...

  1. Survivor
  2. Stranger Things
  3. The Crown
  4. Jack Ryan
  5. The West Wing - yes I have watched this 5 million times!!!

I love The Crown! It would have been on my list, had we been allowed 10. 🙂

Breaking Bad is the only series I watched all seasons of so I would pick it.
Prison Breaks first two seasons were good but it got stupid after that.
Bones even though I haven't seen many of them.
House MD but I haven't watched all of them either.
Nip/Tuck first couple of seasons were good but I didnt finish it either.

My problem is most series get bad once they run a couple of seasons and the story gets kind of bad.

Bonus series...Two and a Half Men with Charlie Sheen but not with Ashton Kutcher.
