The Roman Catholic church has admitted many of its priests & bishops committed child rape and other sexual/physical abuse across the world. Its involvement in the deaths of hundreds of infants in Irish orphanages and the abuse of women in the Magdalene laundries is well documented. Over decades and across the world church hierarchy has tried to silence victims, cover up crimes, and transfer perpetrators so as to avoid responsibility for such behavior by its representatives.

Yet, in the US it remains tax-exempt, and is pointed to by national leaders as a moral authority. Why does the government pay taxpayer money to this evil cabal for it to run social service agencies etc? I've heard it said that it runs hospitals, social services, and schools, which is a positive thing. Well Al Capone gave out charity too. I don't give a rip if or where folks worship on Sundays. But for my taxes to support in any way whatsoever this vile misoganistic organization is unacceptable.

The catholic church rakes in so much money each week that it gives walmart a run for it's money as to who makes more. BUT-the church never opens its books to show everyone where the money actually goes. They say it goes here and there for the good of humanity but it never proves it. They have vast property holdings that are off the tax rolls forcing the common taxpayer to pay extra to make up the difference. The church has payed out some 4 billion dollars to rape victims. As a non profit where did all that money come from? It's time to lower the tax boom on the church for the fraud that they are.

I hate that most of our hospitals are run by religious groups. When I check into an emergency room they always ask my religion. When I tell them none I sometimes feel bullied on top of being sick. I want them out of healthcare. They don’t belong there.

Pablo Escobar gave back to his community too. Come to think of it, Wal mart makes a few donations also

My wife was a Roman Catholic who came from the Philippines. After we married she could understand my thinking and agreed with my thinking. But I really did not try to take her away from her religion.

Soon she became aware of what was going on in the Church and declared she was no longer Roman Catholic.

and a few years later--now- she has declared she is an atheist.

Call/write your "representatives"...far more helpful!

Any other organization that has so many accusations of child abuse would be considered a crime syndicate and would be prosecuted... But THE church...

The church is a corporation. They hide dirt to keep the bottom line in the black. The US should not hold any religious group up as an example of anything. The fact they do is just another symptom of corruption.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. In fact, there have been many of the dioceses that have needed to file for bankruptcy or are losing money because people are leaving the church. They are also closing many of the schools. The church that my parents attend had a school that closed in 2015 and, to make matters worse, the diocese decided to merge their parish with another parish and sell the church, school, and land. They now go to a smaller church that is not capable of doing what the other church was able to do for the community. It's all about money. I say tax them as well.

Most religion is evil but Catholics and Protestants seem to have a lock on first prize in evil. Wait. And Muslims. Seems like there's not much difference..plenty of rape, misogyny, disregard for women and children, etc.

I don't know if you guys are up on current events but the country is trying to be changed into a evengelical theocracy.

I don't see how anyone in their right mind can not be aware of this.

Good luck! 5 or 6 of the 9 Supreme Court justices are Catholic. Gorsuch was raised Catholic but did not identify himself as such.

2

I agree with you and will follow your lead in doing something about it
