So woke up yesterday and my lips felt dipped in Anbesol. Had an episode of low blood sugar like symptoms. Wife took me to ER just to be safe. Had a minor stroke in my brain stem. So for next 6 to 12 months will have numb left side of face and mouth.

Makes drinking very weird.

It is amazing how fast nerves regenerate...i think things will be better sooner than that, based on personal experience. Best wishes!

I woke up with slurred speech one morning. Went to ER. Mild stroke. Within two weeks symptoms were gone. Years later, wife had a stroke. Paralyzed whole left side. Could not swallow. Lived for twelve days. Strokes are so random. You and I are lucky. Many are not.

I wonder if a straw would make it better or worse?

Definitely see a Rehab. specialist or someone in Physical therapy - they always know great tricks for these things. (At the very least an online support group would have helpful tips).

And I agree with what's been said - "They are doing some sort of preventative now right??".

Hang in there.

Are you on an anti-coagulant medicine?

Please take care and follow doctor's orders. I had heart failure 3 years ago. Cardiac rehab and meds enabled me to live again.
