Echo chambers
This morning I have been annoyed by a conservative troll equating affairs to rape and seeming to not understand that rape and sexual assaults are in fact, crimes: and one of our resident theist apologists posting some crap about how atheists can't be moral and he can prove it because words.
When I advocate blocking and banning on social media I am met with "but It'll turn into an echo chamber and you won't hear other POV". Can we not admit that a guy who thinks making fun of sexual assault victims and using their stories as masturbation material is an utter piece of trash and doesn't have a right to be heard by anyone or you know, keep breathing at all? Why do we have to listen to theists trot out the same tired arguments based on absolutely no actual facts or data in the name of "not living in an echo chamber"?
If an echo chamber means not being surrounded by windbag theists and rapist freaks, sign me right the fuck up!
Edit: wishing I could change my name to "PissedOffPossum" this morning.

No only one name change per account
trolls don't have opposing points of view. they don't have points of view at all. they just like to provoke reactions. the only thing you CAN do with a troll is twofold: 1. call him out and then immediately 2. block him. the calling out is for the benefit of lurkers who might not recognize trollery for what it is.

Yes I confronted him after seeing that bit about whacking off to abuse survivors. He thinks "Deviant" means "Without Morals".
I was tempted to ask the members of that group what they feel on the matter? Because I absolutely disagree!
Deviant and Kink no longer mean what they used to. If they did that would be a group I would not equate with the morals of Agnostic.
(I'm not even a member but became one after seeing that post and having to respond.). As a survivor myself? I equated his words with actual harm and bullying.
And sometimes you have to stand up even when you know what will happen next.
Oh and SiteSupport removed his post and mine went with it. Not even sure if the members there are aware.

You don't get rid of cockroaches by turning off the lights and pretending they're not there. You get rid of them by exposing them to light and squashing them as they run for cover.
Same applies to trolls. Banning them only makes them think they've won. They need to be exposed to the world and put on display for everyone to see as the sleaze balls they are.

This has a lot to do with why I disagree with the idea of not calling people out by name.
@bingst agreed I think public shaming should definitely be a thing. We need to know who the rotten apples are.
@OpposingOpposum It's apparent at 2 am that they don't sleep.
Posts that get reported are removed but some really ugly posters are still here after some site specific wrong behavior?
He's a troll though, right? I don't want to post more to give him points, but... certain topics really get me pissed off.
