I’m curious about the “level”criteria. What is this all about? I was hoping to have intellectual exchanges with like minded individuals. I wasn’t expecting any sort of Scientology leveling system(I suppose I should be grateful that these “levels don’t require any monetary contribution)
It works differently for different prople. Most of the people I converse with it doesn't matter (at least until they are near the last 100 points to change to next level, then it just becomes a laughable game between chat friends). Yet there are others where its important and in an incentive or modis operendi for them. Dont get hung up on points. There are plenty of deep conversations to he had. Check the groups to narrow your community if interest. Goid luck.
The levels are there to discourage scammers, spammers, and religious trolls.
They go by quickly through earnest and sincere participation on this platform.
So you’re starting a conversation about the point system? It’s irrelevant, start the conversation you seek, worry less about the mechanics. I’ve seen people go on about this a dozen times. It is what it is.
I was curious about the point system. That is all. If I choose to”worry about the mechanics “ that is my choice. Does your level 8 status give you more credibility than a level 1? Perhaps some people are tired of being rated on their existence and turn to sites like this for solace. And to your point of it being “irrelevant “ why does it exist then?
@Beerkiller nope, I have no credibility whatsoever. You’re comparing this to Scientology just made me sarcastic but it’s all good, have a nice day.
@ArdentAtheist the comparison to Scientology was a matter of convenience(the level part) adding the monetary contribution part was my display of sarcasm. People should be evaluated by the credibility of their contributions, not the quantity of them. I’ve heard it said that “It is better to be silent and be thought the fool, than to speak and remove all doubt” You enjoy your day as well Sir!
this doesn't resemble scientology in any way, shape or form. it's just a matter of rewarding participation. that's really all. unfortunately i don't think it is a good way to deter scammers or trolls. or maybe it's working great and the ones that get through are a small proportion of those who try. (i still see some folks here to try to rope us into christianity -- yes, not just religion but specifically christianity.)
g
It also keeps away (for the most part) religious people who are on here to troll.
Hi, Beerkiller, and welcome to the website
By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it.
For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.
You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.
Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.
If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.
Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests..
In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page.
Thank you for your help!
Levels limit the scammers who show up here-trust me in a year I've had more than a few.
What types of “scams”?
