It is like the Fermi Paradox. (% looking to date) (% of complimentary sexual orientation) (% accepting of atheists) (% accepting of evolution) (% within distance to communicate) = very small number. So to counter the chances, a person needs a vastly greater pool of candidates.

i did not meet my guy online. i had one date through an online dating service. he revealed, on the date, that he and his wife had an arrangement. since i had no such arrangement, that was the end of that.

I really have no idea.... Meeting people for me is hard. I have a small remodeling business so I work alone, all my friends were couples, as I was married for 25 years (until last year), and I basically have little to no adult interactions anymore...

I can understand that. I work in an environment where everyone is much younger than me, and I work a ton. I get out and have fun and mingle but it seems like no one really connects in person. At least online I feel like there is an opportunity to talk to someone and get to know them, but I've had a lot of experiences that seemed great online until you're suddenly ghosted with no explanation, or you meet and they are not who they were behind a keyboard. I'm a super positive person and I love people, but I'm getting awfully jaded the more I try this dating thing.

Not the only way. . . but perhaps the easiest way. . .

In my case, as I have a high standards for people (must be rational/not religious) and as I am hundreds of miles from worthy rational minds, there really are no ways to meet someone to date.

If you don't have a lot of compatible people in your social, or social media circles, it could be a help.

By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it.

For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.

You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.

Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests..

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page.

Thank you! That's fantastic information. Sincerely appreciated

I have used about all the internet dating sites, some free, others memberships. After a while, they tend to blur together, lots of scammers on these sites, beware, somehow when you ask to talk to the person who had your interest, the phone calls may be re-routed to countries other than the US,this happened to me twice, known as "Catfishing" Poor phone reception(lots of distortion, and noise in the backgrounds),made me more than suspicious.

This is going to sound so pedantic but the only way to 'meet' someone is in real life. The internet may help facilitate a date but you gotta have contact 🙂

I meet men everywhere, grocery store, work(doctors, patients..although I would never date either), gym, at my sons’ football and lacrosse games

you can also just bring some pie by the house here and we can hang out and eat it while talking and drinking coffee.

Here's my joke about middle-aged, single Wenatchee men:

If I wanted a fat, ignorant, good ol' boy, tobacco chewin', Republican, judgmental Christian, fisherman and hunter who loves his Harley, snowmobile and chainsaw and decorates with antlers, I'd be ALL SET.

Instead, I date men from the Seattle area. Hikers and downhill skiers. Seattle men are more likely to be liberal, Democrat, physically fit, well educated and interested in culture, the arts, literature and the world. Like me.

Skiers have winter driving skills and four-wheel-drive. In Washington State, ski areas are located atop mountain passes. Downhill skiers can drive over the passes to see me in the winter.

Bars are still working for the younger crowd... I'm just going to start running my cart into single women at the grocery store. 😉
