When creating a profile, you are asked to choose your likes in order to compare them to others. I was dumbfounded when the word sex appeared. I thought it was silly, so I intentionally didn’t enter that. To me, it’s right there with food and air. What’s not to like?

Same, thought it was silly otoh after reading some comments think would probably be more accurate if there was a "not into" or "it depends" option.
I still don't get the algorithm on some matches, despite it being explained on here numerous times.

Maybe that question evaluates whether it's a box you'd check on a public profile, or not, as much as it does actual interest.

Sex it's a personal choice.

Well, during my life time I have heard people who say, they dislike sex. Don't need it, don't want it! Actually, you can live without sex, and be perfectly normal. It is all in what 'floats your boat.' On the other hand, I would not go without food and water, unless I had plans...

2

I suspect it's put there as a choice, because not everyone - in spite of what you think - is into it.

Might not be into anymore, or never much into it, or only into it under certain carefully defined circumstances. There's many different folks out there, best not to assume !

I am a tremendous fan, but really would only reveal that with someone I feel close with and attracted to. I recall laughing at it being an option. (;

I didn't tag sex because I have enough people assuming that I would participate in anonymous sex with them. I want a connection with someone before I get that intimate.

Actually 30 percent of American women (not of all women) do not like sex. Some people, men and women, identify as asexual (no sex drive.) Some of those people have no interest in dating either (called a-romantic) but some do. I don't understand it, but it exists.

I agree! Like when the guy at the coffe shop asks if i want whipped cream, why is that even a question lol

@MrLizard lol, I have to say this is an interesting question/post.....I naively assumed everybody liked it....(whipped cream AND sex).......separately, or together....lol

@MrLizard lol!!!!

Believe it or not mate.....some would no doubt in this modern free speaking...free thinking world of they’ve put this and they’ve put that and it’s not fair....I’m going to complain...wah wah wah ....lol....so this group I suppose is covering from all angles.....personally I’m with you.....sex is a truly amazing experience mentally and physically.....but....there’s still a few out there lol....

I just can't see how that is even an interest, plus I think it's a bit personal as well. I don't mind divulging how much I love Chocolate but that's food, not the same thing.

Verified. I went from being highly sexed to completely ambivalent about it in a matter of about a year. Hormones are mysterious and powerful.

Agreed. Nothing logical about sex drive. Somewhat shaped by conditioning but mostly hormonal driven.

@ThatpersonIam My thoughts exactly!

I had to go look at the profile questions again to see what you were referring to. I certainly like sex, but libido comes in tremendously varied strengths. Some people reeeeeally don't care much for it. It also waxes and wanes with many in different stages of life. I counsel people for a living and meet many whose major marital stress involves strong mismatches of libido between partners.

I'd just say that's not everyone's interest. Some people don't enjoy sex, and others can take it or leave it.
