Laughter might not actually be the best medicine but, at least it doesn't have a co-pay.

Friend: Ben, your face is incredibly wrinkled.
Ben: They're laugh lines.
Future EX Friend: Nothing's that funny.

Still steaming about the $100 co-pay at the emergency room last Monday. I fell in my garage and cut my leg open. Banged my knee up, too. Three and 1/2 hours later, I'm at the end of my patience waiting for X-rays and 'repairs' (15 staples). On my way out they say, 'Oh, by the way..." Grrrr

Then, 9 days later when I need to have the staples removed, my doctor's office can't fit me in and the express care clinic they send me to doesn't "do that"! They said I would have to go BACK to the ER where the clinic receptionist is SURE they won't charge me again. To hell with it. I took them out myself. Nice little scar. Healing nicely. (But still pissed about the $100.)

p.s. Thanks for the chuckle. It helps to laugh at myself.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Grin maniacally, and everyone will leave you alone.

I will laugh to that my friend.

Where do you find these free laughs?

I love a good laugh. It's saved my sanity more times than I can count.

Your the first to make me smile about a co-pay

@Stevil Now your the second🙂

@Stevil What's a copay?

@Stevil What is its significance to health services? Is it the same as what we call the gap ie. The doctors fee greater than the schedule fee stipulated by Medicare or a private insurance fund - different terminology from Australian perhaps?

@FrayedBear It's an agreement in the terms of your insurance. They agree to pay your doctor a certain bit, the insurance has a set amount called a co-pay that you pay your doctor to balance the doctors fee. This also applies to the pharmacist, or hospital, and dentist if that is part of your insurance coverage. It is one of many ways the insurance companies fuck us. I have simplified this explanation but this is the gist.

@Leutrelle thanks. What we refer to as the gap. All a load of political nonsense and profiteering buffoonary. Insurance works by the uninsured putting money into a pool of money to cover the cost of providing from the pool the cost of the insured item or service. In the case of health insurance unlike car or fire damages that have to be determined and assessed after the insureable event health insurance is for the purchase of a specific service or task. If that is predetermined eg. The going rate for a vaccination is $100 then the pool has to contain funds for the total number of people insured for that event. The unknown occurs when an epidemic breaks out particularly of a previously unknown disease like HIV or Ebola. However it is statistically calculable as to what numbers will be affected. Therefore it should be a simple matter to build up the reserves to cater for that. I suspect however that greedy demands for ever growing profits prevents that from occurring. That allied to the failure to contractually ensure that professional monopoly price fixing doesn't occur thus allowing fair price competition and costs being stable over a given period of indemnification result in your copays. Either way- copay or no copay the consumer will always be taken for a ride by avaricious unionised medical practitioners and profiteering insurance companies who rarely go bankrupt.

I don't know how this affects others but generally I cannot get past a minute thirty seconds without cracking a grin. I recall reading that this puppet has been laughing for about a hundred years or more now! ... one of my childhood memories of my birthplace that has not succumbed to modernisation, obsolescence or human orneriness.

Please comment how long it took you to join in and if you didn't "what's wrong and can we help?".

I did grin the whole time

@Smackme LOL. You think that creepy? You should see some of the onlookers!
Hehehe. No seriously you are not alone there are quite a few men and women who get scared ...

I like to say "I laughed my ass off." The truth is I just became old and lost muscle tone.
