Mueller investigation: My Prediction.
A lot of people, particularly progressives, are holding out hope that Mueller will be Trump's undoing. Findings of collusion, perverting justice and so on. You see this hope, openly and thinly disguised, on US media all the time.
Mueller is straight up guy, they say, veteran, FBI guy, patriotic to his back teeth. Maybe he is. But my prediction is this: Findings of wrong doing from his lackies, financial irregularities, but Trump clear of the big issues. Enough for Trump to claim vindication and go forth.
Why? Mueller is many things but mostly he is a Republican. I've watched these bastard GOPers and blood is thicker than water. They are only loyal to their class and party. He will bow to that Will, in my view. Behind the scenes, I'd bet that's going on. He'll have enough scalps to look good for his work, but Trump will walk. The financial stuff will go on in other courts and last forever, making rich lawyers even richer.
Reading Woodward's book recently, you get a sense of it in progress.
I hope I am wrong. Would love to be wrong. But you see if I am right. The religious loonies will continue to feel they are on a roll.
I see a big letdown coming for progressives in the US and around the world. The US system is stacked against the truth. It will be the country's undoing, I greatly fear

A lot has happened since I wrote that post that has surprised me. The momentum against Trump is huge now. I am deeply cynical about the Republican Party, but I did say I hoped I was wrong about what would happen. I still hope I am wrong. If this were the 1970s Trump would have resigned long ago, like Nixon. But it's not the 1970s, and the Republican Party now is like a mutating virus that cannot be treated.
@UrsiMajor no, he was named as a co conspirator and resigned before impeachment. Trump has already been named, or as good as that, and far worse. In terms of indictments and convictions Mueller is already well ahead of the Nixon special counsel. Anyone else would have gone already. But Trump is an autocratic looking for autocracy. Nixon, whatever his faults, wasn't a traitor and didn't conspire with the country's enemies. He may have been a crook but he wasn't a rat. Trump is both.
Looks like I was really ahead of the curve on this one.

What's pissing me off is that Mueller is ready to make his report public but McConnell Sessions and Rosenstein are refusing to allow him to because, I think, it would prove that Republicans up for reelection have committed crimes and if known by the voting public they would lose their jobs and swing the balance of power.
All Republicans protecting the big picture.
Also, the Democrats not insisting the report be made public now so we could make informed decisions on who we vote for is pissing me off.

The Democrats can scream and holler and insist all they want, but they don't have control. The Republicans will do anything and everything to maintain their hold on power.

I disagree. I think that asking the question and insisting on an answer is very effective. It sows doubt. Similar to Comey saying he found more of Hillary's emails on Wieners computer that sunk her chance of winning.
As in, What crimes are the Republicans hiding by keeping Muellers findings secret?
Which Republicans that committed crimes is Sessions protecting by gagging Mueller?
yeah, thats been my prediction all along. I would love to be proven wrong, but I expect a bunch of low level people that don't really 'matter' will see real time, a couple big names will get some time, and trump will walk all pretending we don't all smell the reek of shit on him.
