What is the most embarrassing style you've ever worn/had? Clothes? Hair styles?
If you can include a pic of you in your embarrassing style from your past that's very welcome!

Being a teenager in the 80s, I think it was all embarrassing. I did the Madonna style thing with lace everything. Had my lace headband, socks, gloves, tops. And all the neon colours I could get my hands on.

Was a teen in the 80's as well. Went through quite a few styles back then.

@TristanNuvo Oh my gosh. Stirrups pants, oversized t-shirt with those big hideous assymmetrical belts, pastel or neon colours, shoulder pads. Yikes.

Did you wear your cone bra on the outside of your shirt?

@StrongHappySilly I was more into the early Madonna style, the Like a Virgin look.

@graceylou so innocent! Aren't you the woman that wants to take me to Climax?

@StrongHappySilly Iā€™m taking a whole load...of people with me.

All girls were Madonna... that's okay.

@graceylou I'll give you a ride to climax! LOL

@graceylou where all had our weird styles that were so popular then! Remember braided belts and rugby shirts and cosby sweaters?

@GipsyOfNewSpain Not really. Some of my classmates were more into heavy metal and dressed appropriately for that genre.

@StrongHappySilly Yippee. Car pool!!! Iā€™ll take the back seat.

YOU GUYS JUST HELPED ME REACH LEVEL 7! Thank you! I love all you guys. Tell me more about your past strikes. I love the stories! Some one should put a book together about this

Congratulations!

Whoo hoo! Congratulations! ?

Gratz.

Hippy, tropical skinhead, 90's grunge scruff.

Like a cameleon!

You look like Jesus in shades! šŸ˜€

You have a lot of great looks. I love 90s grunge the best

4

i would have to say the worst was my eye shadow in middle school and freshman year of HS

I feel like I've seen pictures.

I think many young women that were learning hope to wear makeup did the same!

@DoDapper you have not!

@coralisthree - Probably not. But 12 years of your Facebook past, trying to find some, yielded all sorts of other fun.

3

I followed the Clash and the Ramones all over the country! Punk suited me!

Punk is cool...so vicariously so were you!

3

In the 90s my peasant skirts with thick socks and Birkenstockā€™s.

I did the same, except for the skirt of Course! Bierkenstocks and socks!

That is still - and will always be - a good look.

I loved my Birkenstocks!

@SukiSue I did too.

I had a mini mullet in the 80s...i was in elementary school. And in jr high we tight rolled our jeans. Then the were denim shorts that we all wore in the 90s, even the guys.

Oh yeah, I had the mullet as well. We rolled or pinned our jeans. Even the Guess jeans with the leg zipper

2

I don't do embarrassing... ridiculous yeah.

Touche. Also oneche and threeche.

@DoDapper Ridiculous is as Ridiculous does... my ex will tell you.

2

I just found a picture where my mother literally placed a bowl on my head and cut around the edge of the bowl. This is a true bowl cut.

My dad did the same thing to me in the late 70s and early 80s

2

Short hair around 2004, people either loved or hated it. Iā€™m so slim!!!

Iā€™m on the right in the other picture. Iā€™m guessing somewhere between 1990-92 so I would have been around 16-18.

You were cute! I remember when the girls all had bangs like that!

2

Do tattoos count?

Hell yes they count

Yes, but you probably still have your tattoos. I guess it could be a mistake though... just more permanent than a bad haircut!

2

I wore Hammer pants for the longest time. I even sewed my own, two different pairs.

i was not allowed to choose anything about my own appearance until i left home for college. i had to have short hair (i wanted long). i had to have white sixties-style glasses with pointy (though not quite horned) rimmed plastic glasses (i wanted round ones that didn't stand out against my face). i had to have polyester clothes, which made me itch (i liked granny dresses). when i left home, i let my hair grow and no razor or scissors touched it for five years. i looked like cousin itt. and guess what? i'm not embarrassed! i still like that!

g

Oh yeah! Keep it just as it is!

@StrongHappySilly i'm growing it out after giving it up because my fibromyalgia makes it hard to care for and my pca quit. i had help again for a while but i've been sick for two weeks now and have not been where the help is -- so it's all matted again. i'm not cutting it, though!

g

@genessa sorry to hear about your fibromyalgia. That's tough, but so are you! You're hair says so!

@StrongHappySilly i am even growing my bangs back out! they're in that awful in-between stage. i can't tie them back, they're too short to brush back and too long to be in my eyes, so they're just parted and hang down either side -- sort of like oscar wilde!

g

@genessa i hate the in between stages

@StrongHappySilly they're hard to get past but i am gritting my teeth and holding out!

I'm not ashamed.
The 80s were great.
šŸ™‚

oh....the hair.....

Love it and I love your confidence!!! Thanks for sharing the pics. Those are great!

Btw, I still think you're sexxxy!

Looking at the picture, there was after the afro in Puerto Rico a "Playero Style", late 70's. It was a "mullet afro". Lucky me I joined the Navy in 1980, so I was spared of the embarrassment. I will try to find pictures of a playero style but... just imagine afro-shaggy-mullet and you got it.

Wow! You did escape that. I imagine your haircut in the 80s is not much different from military haircuts now

@StrongHappySilly sometimes... but other times I let it go and the ex gf calls me woolly mammoth or brainless einstein.... is a mess! ...could be.

1

Double-knit slacks and platform shoes; I shudder thinking of the 1970s!

JK666 Level 7 Oct 20, 2018

They were the Bomb, you were cool then. Is what it was!

That sounds fun to me. I think I'd have platform shoes and big old bellbottoms!

1

I had a Billy Ray Cyrus mullet back in the mid-eighties. No photos exist, haha.

Its ok that you don't have those pics. I can find some billy ray cyrus pics online

1

The early 90s curly hair (a remnant from the 80s). But man, those were fun times!

Oh my god! That's hilarious. Thanks for including the pic. They were the best times... if i build a time machine will you go back to the mid 90s with me?

@StrongHappySilly Hell yeah, let's go!

1

Dad used to tell me I looked like sh_t and I didn't believe him, at the time. I have photographic evidence that I did. Can't seem to find the photo at the moment. Looking back, it was my goat phase. Had a goatee, with long hair. Thought I was stylish. Managed to attract women, somehow.

Miracles happen every day...i think it was your smile that reeled the girls in!

1

No pic, but I had dreadlocks for as long as I could stand (around 6 months).

Is it true that you don't wash you hair to get the dreads right?

@StrongHappySilly - I started mine with some kind of waxy goop and it gat nastier from there. No washing after that.

@EricTX yuk! LOL

1

My 8th-grade heavy metal big hair. Sorry, I can't share a photo I've burned them all.

You were heavy metal, but now you're a pyromaniac! You should have saved those pics.?

1

I liked the mullet I never wore one. It was when people started wearing the back too long it started looking bad. That one is a little too long but not too bad.

So your vote is to bring back the mullet, but only with a limit of a few inches in back.

1

Big ass hair in the 80ā€™s. Iā€™ve had short hair most of my life except a two year period in high school.

I remember that! Thank god joan cusack left us with this lasting memory

@StrongHappySilly one can of aquanet for each day of the week

Back in the 70s, I was in a punk band. Of course, it was necessary to maintain a certain style. That's why I had a mohawk, lol. I painted it pink and wore leather jackets and high boots. At the time, we thought it looked cool, but now I realize it was too much.
When I went to college, I realized that I wanted to change. I grew my hair, changed my wardrobe, and bought some cocktail dresses. I became more feminine. Now my style combines both elegance and cool. Probably everyone has to go through some period of rebellion to find themselves.
