Firstly I think we need to consider our being. We are a complex organism of biological action and reaction where our body's perform their duties quite seperate to our conciousness. Although our conciousness can have a profound effect on our phisical wellbeing, our biological processes try to continue nevertheless. My point is that our conciousness can force our bodies to go against its nature to survive (in the case of suicide), where the body and brain will always try to "fix" what the conciousness has implemented, along with all other issues it may have, which suggests a different level of choice thru thought. Our "mind" is still baffling scientific study as it perpetually seems not to be of the brain. IF this phenomenon can be further quantified, then the question will be far more answerable.

To live and find out what it's all about.

I think the meaning is to wonder what the meaning is, and to revel in that mystery and to communicate with each other.

Why do I care? I am on it... good enough for me.

I don't know what the meaning of life is. All I know is that I exist, and I will exit this planet at some point.

1

I'm solidly in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy camp.

We may be living in a simulation.

I just try to be kind to myself and others.

Living YOUR life the way YOU want it to be without causing or doing harm to others.

Aside from survival and perpetuation, the meaning of life is whatever you make it. Good old chance, choice, pick a winner.

1

It varies from person to person. It's a journey for all but not everyone even realize part of the meaning is to search for it

Seek and find truth. I like that answer. But why?

@Infomaniac even that part of the question is different for everyone. Whatever tick for me, not necessarily will tick for you and viceversa

Achieving happiness.

Doesn't that require monies?

Good luck!

@shockwaverider It isn't luck. It's setting goals and achieving them.

@sfvpool If it were that simple I'd be really happy.

@shockwaverider It works for me. Of course, my goals need to be in line with my values and my values need to be in line with my long term best interests.

forty-two.

there is no single meaning of life. the question is kind of meaningless itself. is it meaning as in definition? even that can be questioned, which is why we sometimes say "life as we know it" -- there might be something else that qualified as life if only we loosened our definitional requirements. or is it meaning as in purpose? well, it's either purpose as in someone's purpose, someone outside of ourselves, and that would be a deity of some sort, someone with agency at any rate, and like most of the folks here i disbelieve in any such thing. or it could be one's own purpose, which obviously means that the meaning of life differs from person to person and maybe even moment to moment. or by meaning do we mean something to do with cause and effect? example: her not packing a lunch today means she will be hungry. using "meaning" to denote cause and effect generally blurs the issue somewhat (not in my example of course!) so... 42 is as good an answer as any.

About 500k or the real thick rubber ones. Sorry no those are my favorite bands.

Love, music, the journey, or journeys love music if youre down with steve perry n that sorta thing. Connecting and surfing on any kind of frequency you dig, in awe of the extreme highs and lows we get to participate in. Witnessing a beautifully subjective theory brutally clash with a gang of ugly facts, yet live to strut and fret another day. The compulsion to occasionally suck air over that toothache to make sure it still hurts as much as you thought it did a minute ago.

To smell what the rock was cooking, and realize that deep down, truly, somehow, you must have indeed dealt it. Knowing that whether our breath is taken by shock or joy, this shit only comes around once and like any good train vs rollercoaster wreck, you can't look away and we aint stoppin til we hit something hard. It could be described as morbid curiousity or existential wonder or any number of things, but it's an epically mixed bag so I just try to keep my expectations low and absurd. Thats working out alright so far, relatively speaking.

Be alive and survive.

I think we all create our own meanings, that is one of the great aspects of being a non believer. My meaning is to work hard to leave this planet better than when I was born. Of course I am just one person so I can only do so much, but I chose to study environmental science in oder to hopefully help identify and alleviate the harm humans do to this planet.

Have fun today worry about tomorrow if tomorrow comes...but then it is today and back to having fun

I shouldn't have to say it but be nice...being an asshole isn't fun!

Here and Now Awareness. Self realization. Good rationale.

I really think life is meaningless. As human beings, however, we can create ideas of meaning and give purposes to what we do.
