Surgery for my foot fusion happened today, I now have another plate and several screws to add to the collection and hopefully say good-bye (or at least reduced) to the arthritis pain in it.

Did you have a triple arthrodesis? I had that done almost a year ago and it was life changing. The pain is nowhere even close to what it was. This time last year I couldn't walk to the bathroom without being reduced to tears, now I'm all over the place. Up and down stairs, even. I truly hope that your experience is similar.
