How often do you block someone? I find I do it more and more often. If in my opinion a post is deliberately obtuse or ignorant I simply go to their page and block. I do not like to be baited and listen to ignorance. People do not change they just become more so. Why wait for the second time?

Very rarely, I think only 2 and one was my ex who followed me onto this site. I generally don't like hearing everyone's opinion on everything but I've found it important to listen and challenge my beliefs and opinions. I won't tolerate someone trying to bully me on the other hand so I can see why certain people need to be blocked at times.

I have blocked 91 people so far. It cuts down on the clutter.

Wow, you’re just keeping it simple

@Green_eyes I no longer put up with trumpsters, male bashers, female bashers, gun lovers, homophobes, or climate change deniers. I have heard all they have to say. It never changes. Why allow it to add to the clutter on my phone and laptop. I get too many alerts as it is.

@Sticks48 I agree with you. Glad I’m not on your hit list.. yet!! Lol

@Green_eyes Given your stance on subjects I find important and the volunteer work you do, you would probably have to kill one of my really close relatives for me to block you. I do have a couple of cousins you could take out and that would be fine. 🙂

@ArtzyNerd You are just not trying hard enough. 🙂

I've not blocked anyone as of yet. I've been blocked by someone though! Because I gave a ? to an offensive post (Maybe more than one person, who knows?) I found it humorous. I'm a big believer in free speech and I enjoy hearing differing opinions. If someone is blatantly hateful or shitty I just shake my head & move on, but if I were being personally attacked I'd probably block them straight away

I don't do it often but more often now than in the beginning. I don't have time to argue with trolls and idiots.

4

I have 82 blocked. Some were annoying or just flat out assholes but most I can't remember why.

I think that's the highest count I've seen reported. lol

@bingst lol there's another commenter with 91. Maybe they have you blocked? ?

@soulless Haha. I didn't see it before due to the "next page" bug, which is apparently now fixed.

I’ve only blocked 3 or 4. In those cases, they were men who made personal attacks and one who checked out my profile every single day and I got creepy vibes from. I like reading others viewpoints even if they are radically different than mine.

Never...! I am an adult, not a child. If I don’t like something I ignore it. It seems to me a bit like the new “snowflake “ generation of young people who need safe areas, and the student bodies who accommodate them by “no platforming” people who may have controversial or contrary views to theirs. I never expected to find it here amongst so called freethinkers!

I've only blocked a couple, but there seem to be more and more trolls

99.99% of the time I don't block anyone. I block people who harass non-stop.

Quite a bit lately

I try first to see where a person is coming from! If it is sincere ignorance, I try and find common ground or accept that some people do see the world differently to me. But, if I find they enjoy taunting...I will block them. That is a waste of my time and mind!

3

I've only blocked 1 person here and that's because she was stalking/trolling me. Otherwise, I have found people to be generally positive and interesting!

i don't block just because a post is dumb but if people get nasty and/or personal, yep, it's time. there is no reason we can't disagree without calling each other names. i made a post recently mentioning my guy, who still believes, in some vague way, in a personal deity. it doesn't come up much. it doesn't affect our lives. it's not a source of conflict. my mere mention of that (appropriate to the post to which i was responding) brought on a diatribe from someone who leveled insults all over my guy, without the insulter even knowing him, or knowing more about him than the little i said! it was really rude and hostile. i responded by saying as much and GOT blocked, which saved me the trouble, for i was about to do so as soon as i thought the rude one had had time to read my reproach. no matter. it's on my mind because you asked. it isn't burdening me that someone blocked me or that i had to block someone. i mention it sometimes if the circumstances were interesting. that's all.

I have never blocked anyone.
I have never needed to and I'm not sure why I would have to.

2

I don't block anyone. And haven't come across a case where I would.

For those whose posts I disagree with - I just scan, skip, and move on. If someone appears to want a valid discussion - happy to do so. Rude comments? Ignore them. Doesn't affect me in any way.

2

I've never blocked anyone here (uh-oh, am I the one everyone else has been blocking?)

2

I've never blocked anybody, and I've been here almost 8 months. I just don't find it necessary. At least so far. Yeah, I've had some rude and ignorant comments, but so what? It doesn't hurt me any.

You have a way, my friend!

2

Oh I wouldn't say I block lots of people but it's weird you didn't get any responses to this post.
??????

2

No one yet (11 months in). I reckon things are different for women who are here for dating (versus "community only", as I am).

2

In have blocked two or three people for being excessively rude and or abusive on my posts. I don’t mind conflicting opinions. I won’t tolerate abuse.

2

I haven't done it yet but you are certainly correct. It's very evident that some people are here just to argue.

Only once

Havent blocked anyone yet. Dont plan on it. Just ignore ignorant individuals.

1

I've blocked a few people. I don't care to read snarky comments. If someone makes a post about something interesting or important to them, I really don't like to read the folks who post stuff like "what's your point", or something negative toward the person posting. We have enough negativity in the world and don't need more of it here.

I've never blocked anyone.
