Yes, he has doen damage. It always take much longer to build or repair something than it take to break it. How long it takes to fix, depends on how much damage he does before he leaves office and just how much mor damage he does before leaving.

45 is a malignant symptom of what has been so wrong with this country for a very long time.
The damage he's been doing, since declaring his candidacy is significant.
Some of the damage he's done since taking office may never be repaired.
Especially to the environment. That could take generations, if we're able to repair it at all.

Some of the other crap he's done will be repairable, like our relationships with long-time allies.
He must be removed. By whatever means necessary. Then Pence needs to be told he's already on thin ice to begin with, so he'd better not get too comfortable.

Offhand, I'd say he's set American foreign relations back at least 70 years, and American responses to Climate Change back by at least 30.

Trump is damaging not only the USA, but the entire planet. His denial of science on climate change may lead to the end of life on Earth.

And, yes, he is damaging the USA in many other ways, too. But when we're all extinct, that will matter little.

The greater damage, as I see it, haven't even hit us yet.

What Trump has done is show that America is ready for an Theocracy and/or an Oligarchy.
We were incredibly lucky the man is an incompetent moron. Imagine what would have happened if he wasn't sleeping with prostitutes, kept track of his lies and had competent people running his business who knew how to keep their illegal activities secret.
No Muller, no investigation; only positive news about Trump's leadership.

What The Orange One has achieved is evidence reality itself, the very concept of truth, is inconsequential to tens of millions of Americans. Evidence that many religious people are willing to let the least godly man there ever was run the country into a ditch for the right promise.

Trump is just a man. The problem is the number of people who follow him. Those who knowingly exploited the chaos and those who really think he is just short of the second coming.
The opportunity presented here to those who prey on other people couldn't be clearer. Their international support-system - Putin and the crown prince, for a start - is right there to exploit.

The next one will not be stupid.
If the predictions about the fall of the American empire are correct, the need for a savior will be greater than ever, and people will make worse decisions than they are right now.
That, I believe, will be the damage from this presidency.

Thanks for that. It's true. We're dodging a bullet, for now due to his incompetence and buffoonery. Someone with knowledge of how government works would have done much more permanent damage,. That's why I wish that Trump finishes his term, and not leave pence in charge. He has the same views, and could affect changes more ruthlessly and efficiently

Very well said and sadly true...

@IslandGyal there's always been somebody. But not only is Trump the worst, he's made it to the top, like pus erupting from our collective zit.

@IslandGyal where is the Kremlin annex?

@IslandGyal I have it a day and my feeble brain has let me down. If it's the Kremlin annex, you must be working for the Trump administration. Maybe in policy.

@IslandGyal fiddlesticks! I was in DC in October! I could have visited

Just one example of damage he has done to the country and the world is his war on the environment and related issues such as rules on polluters and on the National Park System. I doubt that, that setback can ever be repaired. Alongside this there are his stands on education, the health system, women, sexual issues, separation of church and state, and his appointments to the judicial system. These can be rectified but may take decades to repair.

He's exposed a bunch of things that no one thought a president should/would do, that regulations need to be enacted so that no president can do again. His interference with the justice department, for one. They need to spell out the emoluments clause and other ethical standards. Who knew a president so completely without ethics would be elected?

Getting rid of the effects of Trump will take many years. He has taken us back before FDR now and you can hear others setting around talking and asking why a company should ever have to supply its workers with benefits in the first place. Then you have Trump's koolaid drinkers who were going to deny a marriage license in DC because they thought the man from New Mexico was an immigrant from a foreign country. Only in Trumpworld do you have such ignorance.

Has he damaged the country? Yes. How long to repair the damage? Probably 3 years of the next President's term.

Three years? ...if only.. His supreme court placements will haunt this nation, if not dominate our courts ..for the rest of my life ~

@Varn The hope is that a serious investigation is opened on the latest GOP mole on the bench and he gets thrown off.

@IslandGyal he really isn't an idealist, except when it comes to me

Damaged doesn't begin to cover what he has done to this country, bigotry, racism, and general hatred amongst different races. Then there's the environment, the borders, denial of facts and the list goes on.
Repair the damage?? That's going to take a very, very long time

4

Socially, he's done enormous damage; that may take generations to repair. Financially and economically he's probably done a great deal of damage too in creating short-term solutions to shore up his own presidency, all of which will eventually have to be paid for, but while he's in power it's impossible to say how much - there's simply too much lying, bullshit and deliberate obfuscation to be able to know.

Of course he has, in every kind of way. I am not sure that it is possible to repair the damage.

Sigh. Wall street with that opportunist. "Greed works"!

3

Yes and he is not done. As for the second part, it is difficult to tell. Some things will take longer than others. It will take some countries longer than others to trust us again, and the divide in this country, started by that stain on humanity Newt Gingrich and carried on by another stain on humanity, Tom DeLay, and made ever larger by trump, may take awhile to close, if it can be.

4

Hell yes. Decades, if we even can.
