Silly as it might sound: odor. While a litter box is no olfactory treat, the stench of dog skin can literally make me nauseous.

Also, like others, I much prefer an independent, easier to maintain cat and enjoy the honor of a cat's gentle affection over the general excitability of dogs.

I have found cat or dog doesnt matter for me. I am open to either format, but have a hard time finding a good connection to them. I had a few great examples growing up, amd since then, it seems like i have a hard time getting attached to new ones. Nothing seems to compare

I like most animals, but would not want a reptile as a pet. I find it odd that some dog people don't like cats and vis versa. But more dog people seem to dislike cats more than cat people don't like dogs.

Final thoght, I'm cat people.

I do like both but tend to gravitate to cats. I’m more cat like in that I’m independent and not super social. Plus with my lifestyle the low maintenance aspect of cats is better.

lol why don't i count? i love both but favor cats. it's not because they are naturally clean and use the litter box (our current dog poops where she pleases; our last dog asked to be let or taken out). it's not because they can amuse themselves in my absence (i am not absent much except in sleep) without whining. it's because, contrary to their stereotypes, they're so completely loving, not aloof at all -- not my cats, anyway! my cats want to be with me, on my, dandled in my arms, kissed, babytalked but also addressed seriously in an adult manner, and listened to when they have something to say.

Beign a cat pe4rson, I do not really care for how "needy" and dependent a dog would be on me... and dogs don't purr.

I personally like both but prefer dogs just because they do less damage in the home. My experience with a cat saw them tear up furniture and shred curtains. My dogs are much more friendly also.
