There was a lad I knew who went into nightclubs, wandered up to the best looking girl he could see and said, "Hi. I'm Jeff. Wanna fuck?"

He would get rejected - sometimes very aggressively - nineteen times out of every twenty, but if there were more than twenty good looking girls in the club, he tended to end up going home with one.

Not one that I've ever tried, but it amuses me:-

"Excuse me Miss, I wonder if I could ask you a question? I'm doing a study on corny chat up lines, and I'd be grateful if you would listen to the following, three examples - and tell me which you think would be the most effective.

"1 - What's a nice girl like you doing in a dump like this?

"2 - If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me? and

"3 - Excuse me Miss, I wonder if I could ask you a question? I'm doing a study on corny chat-up lines..."

Although what didn't work is sometimes more memorable (I've heard some doozies!) It's the out of the ordinary ones that stand out and at least held my attention a little longer:
"Your bracelets are pretty. Do you make your own jewelry?"
"Would you like to join me in a duet?" (Karaoke bar.)
The guy at the kareoke bar who carried the mike over to my table as he sang and got down on one knee during the chorus to the Beatles' "Michelle." (Oh, my fluttering heart!) (That was a banner evening.)
Honorable mention to the guy across the bar who just played eye contact games for about ten or fifteen minutes before coming over and introducing himself. He had a very nice smile.

I can't say there is really one line that stands out but if someone doesn't know you at all and they come up to you and show some level of sincerity and honesty on whatever they say, that is the start in the right direction.

I knew a guy in university who we called Peter the Pig, I can't remember his last name but Peter appeared to be average in every way, except he knew how to talk to women and take them home. It was a nonstop parade of women with Peter, usually very beautiful women, except on Tuesdays because Peter reserved Tuesdays for ugly women because he said even ugly women should have a good time. This was not an arrogant thing, Peter was a kind hearted person, a genuinely nice guy and he just thought that it was fair.
I never learned just what he used for a pick up line but somehow I don't think he used a line, nobody ever heard him use a pick up line, he just talked to women, made them laugh and treated them with respect and they wanted to go home with him.

He was older, and really good looking.
It only worked the one time.
No other line has ever worked in the years since.
