'To the person who uses metal straws to save fish but consumes animals, I’d like to say thank you. To the vegan who isn’t aware of our homelessness problem, thank you. To the climate change activists who aren’t attentive to fast fashion, thank you. To the girl who gives her old clothes to the disadvantaged but isn’t educated on sex trafficking, thank you. To the guy who picks up rubbish on his way home from a surf but isn’t well-informed about male suicide rates, thank you. To the people who stand up for horse racing concerns but are uninformed of the cruelty of the dairy industry, thank you. To the positive Instagram influencer who hasn’t cultivated a plastic-free lifestyle, thank you. To the grandparents who knit for sick children but aren’t up to date with current race and homophobic issues, thank you. To the students that stand up for bullying but are unaware of the constant domestic violence epidemic, thank you.
To the peace activists, feminists, animal adopters, teachers, volunteers, foster carers, recyclers, givers, doers and believers, I say thank you.
We are all on a different path and we all see through different eyes. Current world issues that you are passionate about, aren’t always what other people are trying to change… and that’s okay.
It’s not everyone’s job to save every part of the world but it is everyone’s responsibility to thank every person who is doing THEIR part to save the world. Don’t critic, just appreciate. Don’t judge, just educate. We’re all trying our best.

Recent Research conclusions: banning plastic shopping bags in some counties in CA has resulted in more plastic pollution. This is because of the faulty assumption that these bags are "one-use."
More purchasing of dog-doo small bags, and of trash bags.

We need a lot more education, at all levels. In the UK children are being involved in environmental projects from nursery onwards and I think it is having a good effect as their parents are beginning to be more aware, too.
Every little improvement is a step upwards - but not convinced each individuals efforts offset the don't care attitude of so many

It goes to show that no one person has the monopoly or perfection in living a PC life. It gets annoying when you run into someone who thinks that they do or that life is a competition between them and everybody else as to who is the most PC.

I like this post partly because it ties in with a recent one in the mental health group where we have been discussing feeling overwhelmed by all the terrible things that happen. We shouldn't think we are helpless and useless, even if it feels that way sometimes.

Allot of these things are intricately related in a web of reliance, and in some cases they are conflict with each other. Some of the actions necessary to fix one issue may make another more severe, or cause another yet unrealized issue.

That's very moving. I started reading, and was expecting it to be about people being sanctimonious while not doing enough themselves. What I found at the end was the exact opposite. How refreshing.
