I have told Christians that if there was a heaven and hell, I do NOT want to spend eternity with people like them. When they ask me what I mean, I tell them I do not want to spend eternity with liars, cheats, pedophiles, rapists especially when they only ask for forgiveness when they're dying.

I have realized a long time ago that Hell will most like be filled with people who have done nothing but survived the bullshit "Christians" threw at them.

If "I'm wrong" and I've lived a life NOT devoted to god, Why would I not go to heaven?

Even a promise of "hell" for "unbelievers" implies a life after death.

What if they're wrong....and there's just "nothing"?

I have been asked by christians. My answer:
Assuming that you are right, and the god of your bible will be reigning in the afterlife; I will gladly choose death over eternally, mindlessly praising a megalomaniacal monster.

I think eternity in what christians describe as heaven would be maddeningly tedious. Hell and eventual nonexistence would be far better.

I would say, it is ok, my belief gives me peace, it works for me and I am comfortable with it because it does not hurt anyone and it is not imposed on me. I made this decision as a free thinker.

Richard Dawkins gave the most brilliant answer to that question some years back. It was perfect. Any atheist who doesn't know or hasn't heard it isn't fit to call themselves an atheist.

The best answer in Maher's doc, in my view, was when some religious Johnny tried that old religious emotional blackmail trick of saying that

If I am wrong, and there is a god, then I will definitely be sent to Hell, either immediately upon my death or after leading the second rebellion in Heaven against the monster named "God". I don't expect I'd win, but sometimes losing is better than winning, especially when you show others that they don't have to suffer in silence, bowing down to a monster like cowards. You know... the same way I live my life now.

I do not believe there is such a thing as Hell. So he won't be going to Hell. Actually, it doesn't matter. Whatever there is, is or isn't, as an agnostic I recognize the unknown. We're supposed to focus on the here and now: Be kind and fair to each other, appreciate our gifts including the gift of life and the planet that we need to take care of. What always struck me is that in churches they are told to be kind to other Christians. What about the rest of us? Why aren't they told to take care of the planet and all living creatures?
