My Pillow: my mother had bought one of these last year and I recently tried it, and it's awesome. The thing is, I can't bring myself to use it because the owner of the company, Mike Lindell, is a die-hard Evangelical and Trump supporter (he has even been quoted as saying Trump was "chosen by God" ). It's for similar reasons I boycott Chick-fil-A, Hobby Lobby, and Papa John's.

I have no qualms about someone's personal views -- if I did, I'd probably be boycotting a lot of businesses -- but when their personal beliefs spill over into the way they do business or effect their employees -- for instance, Hobby Lobby's refusal to provide health insurance coverage for their employees that includes emergency contraceptives and other various forms of birth control -- then that's simply unacceptable. I don't know if this is something Lindell is also doing, but his extreme support for right-wing causes is enough to put me off.

EDITED TO INCLUDE: To be clear, my mother wasn't aware of Lindell's religious or political leanings before she purchased the pillow. She may have known later in the year, but by that time she didn't care, she was very sick and just wanted to get a decent night's sleep. She passed in September.

I thoroughly and totally agree with your attitude about Trump-pushing businesses. I downloaded the Boycott Trump app to my smartphone, and I frequently use it to see just what businesses are funneling money to the Trump Regime.

I'm going to check into that, thanks.

@bleurowz It's a pretty cool little app, and it appears to be updated regularly.

I'm with you. If it's a product owned by a bigot I don't buy from them. That's a real way we can protest. With our money.

My mother loves those pillows so much that she bought everyone in the family one for Xmas in 2017. My older son and I don't really care for it and don't use ours. My younger son never took his out of the package. A few months after we got them, I found out about Lindell's love for Trump, and that made me wonder if that's partly the reason my mother bought so many of them. She's one of those hypocritical Xtian conservative Trump supporters.
(BTW, I have a Hobby Lobby, Chickfila, and Papa John's all within five minutes of my house. Haven't given any of them a penny in many years!)

Okay I get it. I feel your sentiment. I don't support Hobby Lobby, Chick I hate Gays or Papa FU John.

I get it.

But,. The pillow has been paid for. The villans have left the building. It is to late to stop them from getting away.

The pillow was purchased with love. Don't diminish it's value. Enjoy it. Cuddle it. Make the most of it. Show the person who bought it for you love. Enjoy for yourself and enjoy it for them.

I would not purchase a product from someone that I feel their actions interfere with anothers civil rights. I've never eaten at Chick-fil-a or gotten My Pillow, I don't shop at the other places now. Its a small thing but at least I feel some control over where my money goes. I know there's many more and when it appears that a company is not a good one (my belief of what's good) I try to avoid them..

His commercials creep me out.

Especially that one where he is in the bathroom behind the mirror for fricksake?

And rather than beat him with a toilet plunger they look at him with absolute rapturous joy.

And invite him into their bedroom.

I can't abide the My Pillow guy with his rampant conservatism and sickening support and admiration for Trump. He's also a die-hard Fox News advertiser. Everything about him rubs me the wrong way. I don't care if his pillows gently massaged my balls and whispered words of love in my ear as I fall asleep -- I'm not buying one. You have to have standards. There's a Xian gas station downtown from here that always displays scripture on its signage. I won't get gas there for that reason.

I don't buy Papa John's either nor would I even if they weren't a Xian led business because I think their pizza sucks. I also have no use for Hobby Lobby as a consumer so I don't support them either.

But I do miss Chik-fil-A. Oh well.

I won't patronize any businesses that I know support 45, or are run by religious whackjobs.

4

I believe in small ways to support my values...it might be inconvenient and seem like it is doing nothing, but I know...and that is enough for me...

I also have not purchased his products and have never been in a Hobby Lobby or eaten Papa Johns...I don't think I am missing too much...

Boycotting Dominoes Pizza for 40 years because it gives million$ to Marion Gordon Robertson JUNIOR alias 700 clubber Pat Robertson

I think I bought one of those ages and ages ago and hated it. Now I'm really glad I took it back.

3

i was going to ask about your mother's awareness of that, but your editing answered, and that is a relief.

i wouldn't buy one for the same reasons you state. i don't know about using one; i mean, he gets no support or money from you if you use it. if it reminds you of him and thus repulses you, then yeah, you can't, right? otherwise, sew a donkey patch on it and sweet dreams!

Sew a Sunflower patch for the Green Party

@GreenAtheist jill stein always said, and has iterated, she prefers trump to clinton and has no regrets steering votes his way (and she eats rather heartily at the putin table). i love sunflowers but if that's the logo of the green party i'll pass until it no longer is.

I soooooo hear you. I was going to buy a highly recommended trolling lure yesterday but the package had a bible verse reference in it. I passed on it so I could do a little research on the company.

I think the bible verse told you all you need to know.

@freeofgod yeah pretty much so.

3

That is why, when needing gas - no WAWA.

Ah, another one to add to my list.

3

I agree that I wouldn't buy something from a company that flouted political views that I disagree with. Since your mother bought it, to me that puts you off the hook as you are not supporting them personally. Still a personal decision.

gearl Level 8 June 14, 2019

I don't fault her, she had bought it early last year and passed away later in the year before she knew about his religious and political views. I wonder if she would have still used it if she knew, she was liberal. But she was so sick I don't think she cared about politics anymore, just wanted to get a decent night's sleep.

2

Use the pillow. You did not buy it and it came from your mom who you miss. I think it is ok if it gives you a good night's sleep. I never have been to a Hobby Lobby, eat papajohns rarely and while I miss chick fill a - they won't get my money ever again. But a pillow from my mom, I would use.

2

You didn’t buy it
Depriving yourself of a good night sleep for principals isn’t logical.
Just use it and fight another fight

Lindell pays Rrruusssshah dingy Crazy GREEDY LIMPboss radio cult liars million$ to advertise on radio and million$ more to advertise on Sean Slammity tv&radio Fox fake news....cut off the Lindberg baby tag sew your own pillow case over the evil Lindell pillow and you have covered up the evidence of TRUMPolini nightmares in your sleep

1

My life is complex enough so I don’t really filter products I buy according to the political views of the company owners. You do you though.

1

Give it to someone who doesn’t have a pillow then! You are just being silly.

1

Are there no comparable pillow designs on the market? I only saw my first "My Pillow" commercial like a week ago and don't know much about the product, even though I already knew of the owner.
