Iran shoots down US drone.
Hey folks, we are off their coast threatening them.
Don't forget a drone is just a machine. I hope we don't make something out of an "insult" to the USA.
Ahh yes. And the US would never consider any provocative actions like actually encroaching on sovereign airspace utilizing a ghosted drone. <sarcasm>
Iran is ruled by radical Islamic idiots whom our former idiotic president Obama gave billions, so what else is new. Iran has been our enemy since those radical Muslims overthrew the Shah.
Time you had a history lesson I think. Iran/Persia was a civilised country when Europeans were still wearing animal skins. The current situation dates back to 1953 when the socialist president Mohammad mossdaq tried to nationalise the Iranian oil run by the UK. The UK/USA engineered a coup to replace him with the poison dwarf Pavlavi .
Although he kept the fundamentalists under control he was generally hated and further interference in the area by the west led to the Islamic revolution.
In 1976 a USAF officer was axe hacked to death by a North Vietnamese at the DMZ.
I was in the USAF and the SAC base was put on full alert status.
And now we lost a drone and are talking about a "state of war".....
Dude, you keep saying "we" but you don't even know Sheldon !!!
It is actually a very complex, perverse and convoluted plot to cast a shadow on today's big win of the USA Women's soccer team....... (Yes, sarcasm Sheldon ). C'mon people, chill a little bit and celebrate the win.
YaaaaaaaaAAAA!!!!!! OK, I'm done.
Who is Sheldon?
@PondartInc Seriously???.... You gotta know your stuff buddy !!!!
@IamNobody Please help me for I am old and feeble and do not know the ways of the world.
@PondartInc Naaahhhh .... I think you are beyond help and could bet one lousy buck that you are not that old
@IamNobody I'm not old. I'm not "elderly". Is 64 old? Some day I'm gonna get one of those computer thingies.
@IamNobody Who is Sheldon?
@PondartInc IamGoing to have to quote you..."IamDone" (Hint... Google knows everything)
This is one of the reasons I support automated warfare. If it were a plane with an American citizen in it, everyone would be ready to go to war at the drop of a hat, even if we were violating their airspace. ( we most likely were riding on the edge of their airspace ) Because it was a machine, fewer people will believe the conflict they are pushing is justified, and that will lower the overall public support.
Remember the Gulf of Tonkin anyone?
That was a provocation that in reality never occurred as stated!
We spent over ten years with over 55,000 dead service members over 400,000 of them wounded and over 1,000,000 Vietnamese killed!
Are we that stupid to fall for the same type of shit over a drone this time???
Certainly. Americans can't remember what happened last week, much less half a century ago.
They would have to be 66 years old to remember that. I don't know the demographics of this site however.
I remember when we shot down one of their airliners, full of people.
Now THAT was a good day.
@bigpawbullets really? Really? WTF! You celebrate shooting down a civilian airliner??? What an absolutely disgusting thought!!!
@bigpawbullets If that was meant to ironic, it's in poor taste. If not well, words fail me.
We need to shoot down an airplane full of mullahs!
What!?!
Shot down one of our drones???
Bastards!
Load MOABS in the C130s!
Spool up the air cavalry!
There's medals and campaign ribbons to be won!
Military contracts for "stuff" to be awarded!
We ride!!!
Well geeze. If it’s close enough to the border that it crash lands inside the border, then we can’t act all that shocked.
I'm against the use of drones for warfare in any capacity. Killing is easy when it's done from far away like you're playing a video game. Ever wonder why drone pilots commit suicide at a much higher rate than veterans with PTSD? Because they can't live with themselves once the reality that they've personally and remotely killed hundreds of people, many of whom were innocents and children and civilian non-combatants sets in would be my guess.
Israeli drone pilots don't get PTSD nearly as much as their US counterparts. [haaretz.com]
Having been in the military, I think the stress of the job and the need to operate in such constrained and highly technical environment is most likely the root cause of the increased suicide rates. You so much as press a wrong button, hesitate at the wrong time, fail to follow a procedure perfectly as written, or any of your colleagues make a mistake, you will be subject to immediate and long term reprimand. The stress builds up over time, just a little every day until you snap.
@Happy_Killbot I agree that that sort of stress has got to absolutely add to it.
I'm against war.full stop
I think Trump wants war to boost his popularity and also because he wants to grind the entire world under his foot because he thinks he is omnipotent.
We're off their coast because of our ships and other allies' ships are there going through that channel. We have proof they put mines on tanker ships going through there already trying to blow them up.. What should we do, just let them blow our tankers up?
"our tankers" one Japanese and one Norwegian. neither of those countries have blamed Iran. Who would you believe. A proven lier like Trump and his hawkish compatriots Bolton and Pompeo or the Iranians who were in talks with the Japanese PM at the time the Japanese tanker was attacked.
