What is it that makes holy water holy.... is it the gestures or is there some incantation that we know nothing about that makes it blessed and makes it different from tap water.... am trying to find a difference here

The fact it has ionic oand covalent structure allowing it to become essential to the matrix of life that's what's makes it holy

It is Holy water because the priest, or his system, says it is. The sheep buy into it just as they buy into the sacramental wafer BEING Jesus' body! Having written that, I am sitting here almost slack-mouthed that they can accept this hogwash.

"Holy" here just means that it's the result of a holy process. There is NO such thing as a process alteration that doesn't cause a different outcome in the product. Definitely an absolute. -D.Z.

I believe it’s the same thing that makes homeopathic water work.

Nothing. It boils down to faith and how people believe in what the bible says.

My understanding is that the priest, or whoever, can't make holy water, rather they are basically asking god to make it holy. In reality, the difference is that one is referred to as 'holy water' while the other is not.

The pope passes his magic hand over it, says an incantation, and now it’s holy...

“Holy” water is just regular water that a priest has said some sort of prayer over.
