Are u kidding me? We are such a magical accident life is amazing. All life is full of both wonderful and horrible things. Im here til the bitter end. Im a fighter like that

The question itself has no meaning. It's like saying "What gives your appendicitis strawberry?" And as to "Why keep going?" the best answer I can come up with is "Inertia".

Purpose gives life meaning. Connection to others does so, as well. You might take a look at "Man’s Search for Meaning," by Victor E. Frankl.
We happen to be here, so we might as well be here, and involved in the lives of (select?) others.

I read his book back in the early eighties, and it really had an impact on me. The real meaning to life is to be able to overcome a hostile environment and to prosper.

Life itself!!!! Just being alive is fantastic and makes me love every second and every person I met. Knowing there is nothing else makes me value more everything about living

Donuts and beer

In direct answer to your question: spite. If you ask my ex, that's what she'll say. I haven't found a reason to disagree.

We can have negative and positive motivation, but watch out for the negatives, they have a bad downside.

Meaning of life. Man has searched for that for hundreds of thousands of years, if not more. Is the meaning an entire lifetime, or just a short term meanings. Me? I don't care about the meaning of life -- why does there have to be one -- that is so human-centric. The need that man feels for this is a foolish search for something that will never mean the same thing to all man. How much strife has man seen because of the search for meaning?

To me?. it's you.. more specifically my writings unto the greater-you. My work is both my honing & my beacon.

To you, my friends purporting no meaning, I offer my perspective on sapience/connaissance via this profound bit of tangled soup:

Tantamosity:
Significance & Meaning's Appertinent Adventure

One imports what they deem significant & that importance serves as a signifier of self. This synergy is the omni-integral inception of all integrity & as a consequence not only does the miracle of meaning emerge but a remarkable revelance is revealed.

To understand an unknown concept is to undertake its essence via embodiment, thus a comprehensively concentric carnevale of incarnation ensues. This personification confers connotation/utility & promulgates/implements paradigmatic platitudes whilst concomitantly bestowing denotation/pertinence & availing comprehension/distinction within the edifying exemplar. Therein, each attributes content & accords with one another: correspondingly consigning connaissance and comportment, reciprocally refining function and sense, & furnishing notable nuances within context and inference.

As stately constitutes, Consciousness and Construsion are constructs obliged per Identity. They draw upon another par le portrait parallèle & dually derive due to coherent concordance. This camaraderie is tantamount to a psycho-semantic symbiosis— a simulacrum of steeping so as to purport proprieties, inducing a sharing of bearing which designates complete coalescence & epitomizes exemplification itself. Au fond, meaning is a mutual imbuement amid conception and being— the Consummate Congeniality.

Wow. Soooo....no meaning?

Well passed life's half way stage now, therefore I shall not be a burden to the planet or the other people on it much longer anyway. But meanwhile there is still a lot to be curious about, a lot to appreciate and lots of chances to make a contribution which may help others to be happier.

Curiosity. The most important thing to have, is an appreciation of what you learn, and the greatest aid to learning is appreciation, and learning is the best way to appreciation.

Right now it's my kids and my plans after they grow up. I have snotty noses to wipe and freethinkers to raise. After that, I plan on living as the local witch lady who never leaves the house or show her face. And I'm gonna throw shoes at the bad kids in my yard trying to be nosey...

I don't care if others see me as delusional, I believe my ideas and actions will inspire change for improving the lives of others.

We will change the world.

2

No need for meaning. I just do what I have to do and try to be content. Happiness doesn't seem attainable right now but contentment is adequate.

2

No meaning to life. What keeps me going? My animals. I don't actually care too much if I die tomorrow or in a hundred years.

Was that something that happened organically or did you search for that purpose? (The animals thing)

@Jinx5555555 I suppose organically. Animals have always been my entire world despite growing up with a parent who hates animals. I take after my Dad, I suppose, in that providing care to those who can't help themselves is the most important thing (my Dad, now retired, was a surgeon who provided care for the poor; he also loved animals although my mom hates them). If there was a purpose to my life that involves animals, it searched me, not the other way around.

LOL. Someone, or several someones, once asked or said that the only real philosophical question is whether or not to commit suicide.

2

Life has the meaning you give it. It's a choose your own adventure book. There's a good waking life passage about this I'll see if I can find it

2

What meaning do I give my life? My kids, grandkids, my family overall, my students.

2

Just look at how messed up the world is. God only knows what would happen if I wasn't here. (sic)

2

ice Cream & pancakes..... and probably some other stuff.

The smallest sparks of joy. My tiny contributions to humanity. Those small positive interactions with others. A fascination with nature. Curiosity.. ..and my new motorcycle 🙂
